I would say that creatine may help boost T levels in an indirect way. If someone is restricting calories & uses the creatine to give the muscles energy to lift weights, the weight lifting would be what increases the T - just that the individual may not have had the energy stores to work their muscles as hard without the creatine.

Creatine helps directly via increasing endurance and decreasing rest time between sets, but no connection to testosterone levels. It is another matter that if one loses fat as a consequence of diet/exercise, T levels may rise due to lower sequestration in adipose tissue.

Great overview, you didn't touch on creatines ability to allow muscle cells to uptake more water giving the perception of pump, and the ability to work out longer it is not the increase in test that is important to it's function Overall, a really good tutorial on these supplements. Take it daily, with 1.5L of extra water than you usually would (minimum) and withing a month you will be keeping a lot more water in your muscles making you bigger, your body will be producing more ATP so you're workout will be more intense AND the caviat that we're just starting to find out recently is creatine is emerging as a super nutrient for brain health. Give it 2 months and I dare you to come back to this thread not satisfied. 💪😎

I take Creatine supplement, along with Citrulline which has a mild benefit for blood flow during sex, I also take Viagra or Cialis. I was diagnosed (I am 75) with low grade slow growing prostate cancer. I was for over 30 years on testosterone supplement. My endocrinologist cancelled my testosterone approval. This left me weak, tired with chronic reduction in muscle health and reduced will to do things at all. I was desperate so Creatine and Citrulline have had a modest but noticeable benefit. I have over the past 7 months adapted to my condition, I had to give up sea kayaking due to lack of energy and strength. I am planning on returning to this activity soon. This has been a huge shock to my ability to fight the aging process. But I fight on! Aussie tenacity!

I am 59 and natural tested consistetly at 800-900 ngdl total T. Bench 300lbs and squat 375lbs routinely. I have been high intensity strength training consistently for 26 years. With these very nuanced topics often the problem is that we are asking the wrong question. Creatine definitely improve strength, mass and conditioning because it increase muscle cell volume and promotes higher intensity training capacity. If you are not training at higher intensity its mostly a waste of money. The T incresee is coming from the metabolic effects of high intensity workouts and higher muscle mass which is promoted by creatine. So the effects are indirect and very powerful. no supplement will directly increase testosterone especially in sedentary individuals or endurance athletes who generally have depressed T, HGh immunity etc.

I have always had an empirical testing approach and have made changes over 25 year training and results documenting the data. Creatine is not a placebo but makes a huge difference the earlier you are in the development cycle once you are past the beginner stage. However, there is significant catch it is not a shortcut and works best only when nutrition, training etc are perfectly dialled in. It won’t have much effect either are inconsistent or poor quality. Taking creatine then doing only isolation exercises or using machines and expecting to gain strength and muscle won’t fly…

@@wolfsden3812hi That’s kind of a medical question which I would not try to answer but at face value it shouldn’t have any connectivity. The question I would ask is why do you have high BP? It’s not a disease but most times a life style condition. Generally, high BF%, metabolic syndrome or insulin resistance , pre diabetic, low T and muscle mass and high BP tend to occur together. Hi BF is determined both by muscle mass as well as fat storage so you can have a hi % and be skinny too… all of these are reversible Don’t mean to over step here …😊

If it doesn't increase total testosterone but increase free DHT I still would take it because DHT is way more powerful. Who cares for total testosterone, the important thing is free testosterone and free DHT even if total testosterone remains the same after taking it. And there are way more elements in the testosterone equation: density of androgen receptors, levels of SHBG and LH, sensitivity of androgen receptors, aromatase levels, studies very rarely measure these they only care for "total testosterone" to make conclusions like if that's the only element in the equation

All test boosters are a waste of money for any guy that has average to good levels. Higher "T" boost from proper sleep quality and time, active lifestyle, morning sunlight, hydration, nutrition, reduce stress, avoid alcohol, smoking, drugs..... And ensuring (testing) all micro nutrient levels are correct (boron, selenium, zinc, magnesium, manganese, iodine,.....).

What's your take on creatine possibly increasing prostate size? I have BPH and have stop using it on the off chance that it may impact my prostate. Not taking any chance.

1-2.5 grams of creatine per day. Exceeding that will increase your Creatinine levels (kidney) beyond 1.29 into kidney failure. Eating high protein will put your creatinine levels above 1.0

Could similar benefits be achieved through a high protein diet?

Yes possible but the amount of proteins you would have to eat would be 4-5 pounds of meat and or fish. That's a lot o food a day.

Curious if giving to teenagers would be harmful due to the body trying to regulate during puberty and adding suplements might alter the normal process of the body to regulate the endocrine system. I'm speculating based on our bodies desire to reach homeostasis and will often adjust normal physiologic occurances if the body is reaciving outside influence. For instance if there is a rise in a particular level from supplements would the body then reduce it's naturally occuring secretion due to it sensing there is enough already present. Thereby screwing up the body during puberty and missing the setting of the natural clock of the endocrine system. Then when going off the supplement the body is not able to compensate due to puberty being over. I know lots of high school kids get on this and I hope it's not effecting them long term.

I would imagine Creatine/Zinc etc are more effective in older individuals with symptoms of low energy low testosterone, loss if strength etc...increasing protein intake along with Zinc , Creatine etc will be beneficial. If however you are in good health and younger you would likely get some benefit but not a real testosterone increase..

If it's helping muscle growth and recovery time, would it not indirectly help testosterone. We all know muscle strength helps testosterone and over exertion in the short term can tax your testosteron levels.
