Actually, Darren, the names of London Underground's lines are mostly taken from the old companies that opened them in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. For instance, the Metropolitan Railway became the Metropolitan line, and the Metropolitan District Railway formed the nucleus of the District line. The only lines whose names are from royalty are the Jubilee and (indirectly) the Victoria.

Just wanted to point out that the tube line names not named after royals are named after the areas they travel through/to or notable things about the lines, not individuals. I think we should stick to tradition because there’s no way I’ll be traveling on any of these lines!

The whole point is that these things should be named after neutral things, like their actual ROUTES. There is in fact a commonly used name for one anyway - Gospell Oak to Barking LINe - GOBLIN.
