Did our 2009 van today following your video many thanks 👍 Points to note for others... 1) it's easiest to remove the under engine tray (bolts in the wheel arches to drop the front down) so you can get to the black plastic drain tap easier from underneath 2) to find the black plastic drain tap to bleed the system just follow the pipework to the clutch body where its located 3) the master cylinder body needs a slight (reverse thread) clockwise turn from the engine bay with mole grips to release it from the bulkhead 4) bleeding...ours took 20 to 30 "three pumps and hold it down"... have two 250ml bottles of dot 4 on hand... 5) during bleeding keep topping up the reservoir to the max line throughout...we used one whole bottle of dot 4 plus some taken out of the system during bleeding Overall not too bad, give yourself a morning to be sure your not rushing.

Nice video. I have a little problem with the clutch of my 2011 Master 2.5 G9U. I think is the master cylinder. Here, in Argentina, it worth US$200. Affordable but a little bit expensive for a tiny plastic piece 😂. I will try to install it by myself. Sorry for my poor english 😬.
@VanlifeHQ11 ай бұрын
Your English is fine mate yeah as long as there’s no fluid dripping out the gearbox underneath your van it will be the master cylinder 👍 Honestly it’s very easy job buddy I’m sure you can do it & save a lot of money Please let me know how you get on with it..

I am about to follow this and do the same job on my 2.2 03 master, but I am confused by the huge amount of parts available and don't want to get the wrong one, could you let me know the make and model number of the alternate part you used in the video please? @VanlifeHQ Жыл бұрын
@@bradleyhocking7681 hey Bradley if there’s no fluid on the floor mate it will certainly be your master cylinder same as this one, however, if it’s dripping fluid from the gearbox, it will be your slave cylinder which means gearbox off buddy

Great video thanks. It definitely looks doable and appears very similar to our 2009 model. My issue is that the plastic cup that attaches to the pedal keeps wanting to work itself off, hence I've added a zip tie. Was that your problem too as I see you cut that off at the start? I also have some occasional clutch judder during low speed manoeuvring like parking Also whereabouts do I locate the bleed nipple you show towards the end of the job? Is that 9mm tubing it requires too? Finally, would you recommend a genuine part or is there a good aftermarket alternative? Thanks again for a really good, simple, diy job 👍
@VanlifeHQ11 ай бұрын
Good evening thank you for watching & kind response The cable tie was indeed to hold the old actuator arm onto the pedal (first issue) but also was losing pressure & subsequently the pedal was getting soft Your judder could be a driveshaft tbh buddy I think this would be more of that issue, The bleed nipple : if you follow the pipe from the master down to the gearbox you will see it mate it’s right near the starter motor it will have a rubber cap on it The tubing is literally only to keep it from going everywhere as after pumping and opening it will shoot out with a lot of pressure Also you can keep a eye on the bubbles, making sure it’s just clean fluid coming out Honestly aftermarket is just fine ( euro car parts ) or eBay there so easy to change for the price. Any problems drop me a message I’ll do my best to help mate
@OlyLowe11 ай бұрын
That's great thanks. I think the slight judder is the clutch as it only happens when slipping the clutch, but it seems to be better if the engine is warmed up (and so the oil fully spread around?) Thanks again, really helpful

@@OlyLowe I have the same judder with my 2008 master. Only sometimes when the engine is still cold. After that no more problems.
