Great video! Would love if this became a regular thing. I liked that your critiques focused around fundamentals like composition, context, clarity, etc. as obviously those are 1st priority. It'd be cool tho if (in a future video) you took one submission (with already good composition) and did a "render makeover". As in, opened their .ksp file, and-using the same geometry and composition-demonstrated how to take it to the next level. Would be neat to see a before/after photo and how average keyshot users compare to experts in both process and end-product.

the Victorinox forester (the swiss army knife) doesnt always have that shield coloured or embossed in silver. The trailmaster etc usually do but the forester doesnt as the rubberised doesnt lend itself to be able to have that inset chromed. i would suggest the artist was replicating the real world item as best and as accurate as they could.
@WillGibbons2 жыл бұрын

That's awesome. I really love how you approach the feedback, really straight and respectful. My 2 cents here: the image with bottle glasses that you said there was no feedback, I would say the glasses need more reflection as there's no diffuse light contributing and thus the legibility of the surface relies on the reflection
@WillGibbons2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing. My only counter to this is that glass (like metal) is fully specular and does not have diffuse reflections unless there's smudges, scratches or residue on the surface. Unless I'm mistaken.
@danielsian3802 жыл бұрын
@@WillGibbons yes, perfect. Some render engines have reflection and specular separated, which is technically accurate. I was referring to specular.

Hi, great video, thanks ! About the desk lamp one, there was that cart you described as polarizing and didn't like. That's funny because is a masterpiece of modern design, created by Alvar Aalto for his company Artek. Not to say that it fitted on the image (I tend to agree with you), but it was almost chocking for me to hear it being dismissed like that in favor of this (not ugly) lamp ;) - No idea who designed the couch though haha
@WillGibbons2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment! I think design is super subjective. Sure Aalto is famous and often respected, but I think the tea trolley he designed in this scenario competes with what the designer who made this rendering wanted to be the focal point. I didn't mean for it to be a true critique on Aalto's design.

Hey, in order to create a fluid animation such as the one you're talking about would require me to use a different software. There aren't any fluid animation tools in KeyShot or in any CAD apps. You'd need to look into Blender, Houdini, Maya, C4d or something like that.

There's this one thing in that yellow chair render that makes me restless. It is the way how the legs are attached to the chair. It is placed in such an angle to the camera that it leaves ambiguity of how it would really look in real life. The strut that joins chair's right legs and the one that joins chair's front legs align almost to an ideal angle so that it looks as if it was the same piece. This makes it hard to understand how object looks in 3D space and makes it less believable. I would try to avoid this perfect alignment of lines which belong to different planes. Don't know if it's even clear what I'm trying to say. English is not my first language so I'm sorry.

about the interior with the chair... A glass table shouldn't refract like that.
@WillGibbons2 жыл бұрын
You don't think so?
@omarliew11642 жыл бұрын
@@WillGibbons well, i'm not 100% sure. But it was the first thing i noticed looking at it. Seems off to me. I believe a clear glass table without curvature should be just see trough without any deformation since the glass is the same thickness everywere and not bend or curved. I've searched some glass tables on google and none of then showed this kind of refraction. Otherwise the world would look silly when looking out of the windows haha🙈
@Tharros952 жыл бұрын
@@omarliew1164 I think it could, because of the viewing angle of the camera relative to the normal of the glass. Also, this glass table appears to be thicker than glass used in most windows, so its not a very apt comparison
@omarliew11642 жыл бұрын
@@Tharros95 but i learned that when you have a straight piece of glass the refraction happens 2 times. When the ray goes into the glass and when the ray leaves the glass again. This makes why you can look trough glass windows without having any deformation. Shouldn't matter how thick the glass is. Could be that there's some slight imperfection or roughness in the glass though. And it might be intended to be like this by the author of the render. It just looked off to me, making the render look less realistic in my opinion. Other than that the render looked good👍
