No matter the era people are drawn to specific characters that made them fall in love with wrestling, the rosters they've had since the ruthless aggression era don't have what it takes to hold people's attention anymore.

Even WWE fans said they started watching because of the Rock 😂 WWE needs to face that the rock is the only one that will bring ratings that's why they need to bring him back every time rating slip 😭

A 2.0 rating in 2024 is a lot more impressive than it was 20 years ago. Various tv shows get lower ratings now because people have more options , You have all these steaming services and with WWE people are not just watching it or DVRing it ontv, they are watching clips of it on KZbin and social media.

There is a reason Netflix signed a contract worth billions of dollars with WWE just for Raw instead of the whole WWE program. WWE is on a roll right now and Nick Khan is the MVP of it. WWE are masters of social media and use it to their advantage. Hell I won't be surprised if they get fucking sponsorships from Coca Cola or Nike in the future.

Nothing wrong with it. I enjoy the hell out of it. Especially since they have fun with it. I like James doing a hatchet job on the half-hours. So here's the breakdown I know overall (loosely): WM40 didn't bust 69k attendance. If the Raw after is barely topping 2.7 milly or so, it's still not busting the population of Jamaica. Now...let's think about the reality here of how weak everything is with WWE and "new leadership" (same as old). Cena, The Pebble (TM), Strepthroat McMahon, Triple HGH, a Rhodes... all the "headliners"...unable to bank 70k butts in seats, and unable to bust 3milly in viewership. So literally...no growth and negative growth, for 40 odd years now. Man that hurts. Great for the 1930's, atrocious for a supposed "powerhouse of wrestling & media/entertainment" in the year 2024. I can say...Rene would know way better on the cheaper production (logistically) on "merch for marks" (way less overhead with drop-manufacturing and drop-shipping on-demand with POS overhead being virtually nil). That's actually money coming and going. I wouldn't mind knowing the numbers on that stuff, to break it down.

After the Rock n Cody segment the casual viewers were seeing these wrestlers and opted to change the channel.. They really should've advertised Cena in that match to keep the viewers around.

I agree personally that people are completely underestimating how The Rock made wrestling interesting again and theyre still left with a roster that is lacking on megastars. However what I would disagree with others here on is that they have successfully built Cody as a star now, (serious version of) Seth won me over and there's guys like LA Knight who could be top top guys if they build on that great WM ending. It cant be any worse than it was under Vince the last decade anyway.

So glad to find this podcast or whatever the hell we are calling these... vodcast.. whatever. Rene is more than just the wrestler's angle in contribution and James' understated ways pull out the real personas who appear. I get the feeling James could go on for hours about this shit himself but the way he let's other folks speak on having been there just WORKS. Good shit fellas.

Tbh I didnt watch either Mania or Raw..I just listen to reviews and what not. From what I gather they kind of landed flat with the night after Raw. Like they got whatever they were trying to get done was done on night 2 of mania and wanted to just take a rest on Raw. The problem with that is all the momentum they have been building they didnt capitalize on it to keep people interested to see where they are gunna go next. Im not a cody hater at all but I honestly just dont get it with him, hes nowhere near the level of Talent of Dustin IMO but hes obviously got some kind of fanbase i cant deny that. Im sure his defenders will be along soon to attempt to castrate me for not being a cody yes man but ive never been a Kool aid drinker so...just my thoughts.

My thoughts on the CM Punk security footage being released is a Vince McMahon post Montreal interview, the famous Bret Screwed Bret, in an attempt to paint himself and his company in good light, but it backfired on Vince and people hated him for it but McMahon doesn't need people to like him so he said to hell with it and started being a heel. I think the same thing will occur no one other than their fan base will look favorably on this but Tony I don't see going heel even on camera because when he fired Punk he said, "I was in fear of for my life" and you can't turn this around anymore.

If they want to keep the ratings up. These are my suggestions and a bit about my own background in this business. After watching this industry as a fan. And also being in a marketing position for my local indy fed for the better part of 30yrs now. I know how this business works. And so i am expecting BIG THINGS from Paul and the company moving forward. With the move to Netflix that in and of itself opens up a whole new chapter in where this company can go in a directional sense. They need to break free from this "PG" rating that i personally feel has held the company back for many years now. Thank god the partnership with Disney fell threw that would not have been a good move for them. However, what Cody and Rock did on the last RAW before Mania. Where Cody bladed and got color re-opened a can that was sealed for many years now. That being said, a move to a more "PG-13" rating for RAW's and Smackdown's is entirely possible. And even getting away with some "TV-14" for certain PPV's as with PPV'S you can easily get away with that. I've also heard from some close sources i have. That there will be 2 shows a rated and unrated version for both RAW and Smackdown. That is once they move to Netflix. I'm not a fan of this because it puts an unnecessary strain on the production crew having to re-edit everything for 2 shows. They can very easily do one show for both brands and still implement what i mentioned above. And not go over the line in a ratings sense. Speaking of that, everyone has said that the Rock and Cody bloody beat down segment was very "attitude era". However, we need to let go of that. That era has come and gone. But we can still "cherry pick" from what i feel was one of the best era's the company ever had. And implement that into this new era Paul is talking about. We are also Post Mania now and on that RAW we had Rock tell us he's leaving for a little while. Well, to fill that huge void i would utilize something that worked out very well for the company in the past. And that is bringing back guest GM'S on RAW's and Smackdown's on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. It does two things folks. It gives the fans the opportunity of seeing talent they haven't for a long time. Such as; Foley, Austin, Bischoff, etc...And it also stirs the pot if you will by allowing each of these different personalities to run both shows from there perspective. This would be in my opinion be the best way to fill Rock's void until his return. That all said, it will be very interesting to see the direction the company moves in going forward. I am hoping they implement the my guest GM suggestion. As i think that would definitely be a ratings game changer. And it would keep things new, fresh, and exciting for the fan base. One thing is for sure, they definitely have a void now with Rock leaving that needs filling. I think, in fact i know the guest GM angle would do just that and then some.
