Ya'll should get 2 Cold Scorpio on this show. One of the most underrated flyers of the 90s, his tumbleweed legdop was so cool looking, and he soared in the air during his moonsaults. And he was still capable of doing power moves, like the Powerbomb.

Underrated? Yep. I think he's the MOST underrated and underappreciated wrestler of all time. He, X-Pac, and Jerry Lynn don't get enough credit for introducing the cruiserweight, X-Division, and lucha libre styles to the USA.

This came out of nowhere…as many times as Punk was mentioned on this podcast. And how would Punk have more pull than Scorpio…who was there before while Punk was still “the new guy” out of OVW?

Rene: What Japanese wrestler worked for Pro Wrestling NOAH, the one that CM Punk stole his entire frickin repertoire?? Vinny: Oh... (clearly doesn't know or can't remember his name) Rene: KENTA! Vinny: Kenta

Scorpio did the dark match with Rene in August of 2006 and wasn't signed and went back to NOAH. He wasn't signed until December of 2006 but he only did a few house shows, a couple DSW/OVW shows in March of 2007, another dark match in April and then was back on the indies the following month. I do question Heyman being against Scorpio though but then again Scorp did return in December which was the same time Heyman left the company and wouldn't return for a few years following the December to Dismember fiasco. And Punk has always admitted he blatantly stole the move from Kenta, so I can't really see him trying bury Scorp because of that. Besides it's not like Scorpio was the first to do the 450, moonsault or Tumbleweed.

Didn't Punk only take one move from Kenta, at the behest of WWE?
@-Trauma.3 ай бұрын
Yeah.
@horncrownedproductions96753 ай бұрын
GTS, knee/bulldog out the corner, took his sideswipe pin, took a kick/chop/backhand chop combo move for move. So no, he didn't just take one move. And it wasn't at the behest of WWE either. The only thing that was done at the behest of WWE was he couldn't use the Pepsi Plunge. Since he needed a new finish, he stole one from Japan.

@@Allen-zj3cw Yet, they gave him the belt for a year and a half and didn't deem him worthy of being the guy. He has no coordination, no fast twitch muscle fibers, no dexterity or agility. He's slow and plodding. When you heard the hype about him, despite the shitty physique, you would think he Shawn Michaels 2.0... Then you saw a guy who moved exactly the way he looked. Like shit. Promos are great and all but promos sell a PPV which culminates into classic matches (See Hogan vs Rock for example). Roman Reigns has a boat load of classic matches under his belt. CM Punk has none. His best work was him getting carried by far superior athletes.

Bullshit. No one except workrate marks give a shit about what wrestler "owns" what moves. CM Punk got over because he could talk, everything else was just icing on the cake
@dwightyboy53243 ай бұрын
Exactly, Punk was and still is a great wrestler, but his talking got him over, back then no one cared what most of his moveset was, the Punk hate from Rene gets annoying listening to sometimes

@@dwightyboy5324 I mean, Rene speaks from experience working with the man, we can't really discount what he says, however, I'm only aware of one move that Punk stole from Kenta, and WWE wanted him to use it.

@@jeremygott7709 I get Rene knew Punk and all that, but this would've been back around 2007 and didn't even seem like Punk was really out to hurt the guy or anything, it seems weird Rene carries this much of a grudge against the guy over stuff that's relatively minor from 16 or so years ago
@kevinomar0113 ай бұрын
Renee sounding like a hater on this one. Punk had no power back then and was almost cut. Also Kenta a nobody
@dwightyboy53243 ай бұрын
Yeah back then Punk just came up from OVW, he was pretty much brand new to the main roster, doubt the could've influenced anything at the time. Plus Punk was more well known at the time, I didn't even know who Kenta was until he was in NXT as Hideo Itami
@kevinomar0113 ай бұрын
@dwightyboy5324 exactly. Till this day Kenta is not over
@dwightyboy53243 ай бұрын
@@kevinomar011 he was in WWE for five years and most people can hardly recall anything he did, only thing people mention is him getting injured, but he probably wouldn't have gotten over on the main roster. Punk's had a way more memorable and successful career in America
