Two things. First, if you only watch a few minutes of the video and then say "Why didn't you mention [something later in the video]? You have done a disservice to the topic!" then you are doing more to expose yourself than myself. Not completing something and then declaring it incomplete is an error on your part, not mine. The first part of the video is about modern anti-fascist practices. The history and greater details come later. Try to watch the whole video. (Only one clueless person has done this so far, but I felt I should leave this little message.) Second, KZbin made this video ineligible for monetization for reasons both content-related and copyright-related. The dreaded yellow dollar sign and red dollar sign. This was never going to be a hit, but it was very important to me. I'm glad it got out.

My friend and I found them hiding at a local park and called it in. Other friends communicated to the anti KKK protesters and the park began to get surrounded. They left pretty quickly.

Fascists do force capitalists to limit potential profits for "good of the nation"
@corneliuscapitalinus8452 жыл бұрын
Nails is wholly correct. It really isnt capitals true form, sincerest expression of capital, the naked rule of capital, etc, as such. R-libertarians equivocate socialism & fash because both subordinate capital - of course w/o any seeming comprehension of how, why, and to what. Consider a hypothetical feudal scenario, wherein contender for a crown, or a regional seat or somesuch (this is going to be very basic and crude, not getting into the subtleties of the era) could successfully claim/usurp the position. High lords, Orders, Institutions and Interests would ofc be able to inaugurate civil war, or by pledging to acknowledge the new sovereign, could in return have all manner of rights and privileges acknowledged or aceded to. You could think of capital as one of these higher parties in analogysing fash. It may well be that these parties are in on the move, or it may not. The contender could be hostile to some sections, which could either excite other sections to the prospect of gaining the spoils of the ousted faction(s), or it could send terrify them all that any disruption to their position might occur. A lot of capital interests are very vocal about their opposition to f, and are willing to back that up with their cash, so there's a bit more to it than the naked rule of capital.

I think it's understated how much a role religion plays in modern fascism. That's not to say that all religion is inherently fascist or even inherently right wing--many early leftist and socialist movements were inspired whole or in part by religion--but in the modern day where Evangelicals and TradCaths have forced most adherents to conflate religion with conservatism and vice versa, the churches have become a natural breeding ground for fascist belief. It's even the main avenue for fascism to cross over racial divides and pull supporters from the groups it inherently wants to oppress--by framing their movement as a matter of morality and a return to Christian tradition, fascism can convince highly religious non-white to support or at least tolerate their cause. If they can be convinced that the fascists are fighting for morality and not oppression, they will be more willing to look the other way, and even blame the members of their own group for their systemic oppression. This is not new. This is exactly how systems of enslavement and exploitation were perpetuated in the age of European Colonization, and it is happening again today.
@MakNCheese882 жыл бұрын
Michael Brooks might have been quoting someone else, but he once said "capitalism always breaks fascist". A system built on exploitation and hierarchies, when put under duress, will always become a more extreme version of itself in an attempt to survive. Fascism will always exist so long as capitalism exists.

This is obligatory viewing! It may be long, but it's well worth the time. It's a comprehensive and scathing indictment of conservatism and capitalism. And centrists are equally exposed for their complicity and culpability. I wish everyone I knew would watch this, especially those who seem to refuse to "look behind the curtain"...

This is easily your best video yet. To qualify what I mean by that: I have always admired your precision. In some past videos, I have found that the lines of connection you draw between ideas lacking. Not in whether they actually lack connection, but in presentation. This video attains both your usual clarity and manages to fuse that with a clear connection of cause and effect between sections.

The fact that this isn't among your most popular videos is bizarre to me. By far one of the most informative and well-researched political essays on the platform.
@generationofswine-ge5rw Жыл бұрын
It's probably not popular because it requires some background knowledge; things I used to think were common knowledge. I keep forgetting that for the most part there is not much politics in the political realm today, mainly because the right wing movement, which definitely represents the rise of fascism, is not so much a political movement, but a mob of low IQ, immature, ignorant, dishonest and vile as*holes. jIt is a movement of shi*heads who have been given permission to be proud to be anti-social and egregious filth. They call themselves conservative and Christian which is obscene and they call news media covering politics "left wing" which is preposterous. I will never give any time to the alt. right, debate, discuss or engage with them in any way. The only reason I would talk to them is if I was feigning similar views in order to lure them to a terrible fate. When they decry "division" and talk about unity, it simply means they couldn't get power and kill us, so it's back to the drawing board and in the meantime please let your guard down and relax because we're your friends.

Kinda odd how it's not really discussed how lowkey horny the world was for fascism right after ww2. For years I used to go on about how it wouldn't be impossible for fascist groups to try something in my country of New Zealand. Much to the disbelief of friends and family. Kinda hate being proven correct, in that regard though.

It was truly something else to hear conservative acquaintances of mine screech about how Antifa and BLM had utterly burnt Portland to the ground *while I was in Portland.* I explained at the time that people were much more scared of the forest fires in the area than any of the protests, but it fell on deaf ears. As for Antifa being everyone and everywhere, I'm reminded of a time when one of my more unhinged conservative acquaintances posted a bunch of articles about ANTEEEEFA attacking poor Trumpers, and the incidents that weren't just totally unsourced anecdotes or urban legends all turned out to be drunken brawls or just garden-variety fights with no confirmed or discernible political motive. But, when you cite the statistics on ideologically-driven violence or explain the challenges of trying trace random crime or vandalism back to *anyone,* that's just proof that you're shilling for the Left in these people's minds. Of course, once the anti-covid protests got rolling, it became abundantly clear that all the pearl-clutching about protesters blocking traffic, harassing cops, or breaking the law was all self-serving BS.

I haven't actually watched the video yet, but I really need to vent this thought. The tolerance paradox is a massive red herring. No one advocates for tolerating EVERYTHING. Creating a society which is MORE tolerant, does not require you to also tolerate intolerance. These things don't have to be absolutes. Furthermore framing the left as tolerant i think is also misleading. To tolerate something means to think negatively of it, but still allow it to exist. The left is only tolerant in contrast to the right's intolerance. We don't tolerate homosexuality, we defend it's right to exist. Tolerance isn't really our hallmark, it's just that bigotry and intolerance is a hallmark of the right wing and so we are labeled as tolerant by comparison. People on the left tend to be very active combatting things they consider to be evil.

"Still unwilling to tax the rich, capitalists and the state conspired with the Reichsbank. In 1921 they developed a plan to destroy the German currency to simultaneously reduce the reparations and control the workers..." Do you have more information on this? Right up until this statement was made I was generally nodding along, but I feel like there should be a citation for this. As is, deliberate planning feels insufficiently supported.
@renegadecut98752 жыл бұрын
I did cite it. Shortly before, there was a citation in the upper-left corner: "A People's History of Modern Europe" by William A. Pelz. In this chapter and all chapters, there are a great number of citations as well. Prof. Pelz was a respected academic historian. This direct quote from the book paints an even worse picture: "From 1921, the German rulers’ strategy, through the Reichsbank, was to ruin the nation’s currency in order to reduce reparation payments and roll back the gains workers had achieved during the revolution. The magnates of industry seemed to think that runaway inflation would wipe out the German debt and render meaningless labor contracts and wage agreements, as the situation generally exhausted the working people."
