Three words. UNLIMITED MAGIC POWER. There's a bunch of spells that Sephiroth has that could literally immobilize or put Vergil ooc without even actually hurting Vergil. Pale Horse will literally turn Vergil into a frog, at which point he's done. Heartless Angel literally puts Vergil on the brink of death, one hit and he's done. He can also petrify him with break and then shatter him. Everyone talks about Sephiroth needing time for his spells but spells are usually instantaneous in FF.

Also you talked about Vergil having a lot more "tech", but he absolutely doesn't. He uses beowulf, yamato, and he does NOT use guns in fact it's been stated that he hates firearms and prefers to fight more honorably with blades and close combat. Literally he used one to fire one bullet in DMC3 because he was having a brotherly moment with Dante to finish off the transformed Arkham. That's it.

No, that's how a turn based rpg is played. Don't even try to say he has to wait his turn in a real fight lol. You could set your controller down and Sephiroth would stand there for hours until you made a move, and we all know that's not what would happen in a Death Battle. Besides, that's FF7. The other games Seph is in, aren't turn based, and he doesn't wait around in a fight. When I said spells were instant, I mean when they're cast, they take effect immediately. Aside from a few Final Fantasy games, time between spells is ONLY because things are turn based, but the animations for said spells only takes a second. In a real fight with no "turns" the spells should still only take a second to use.

About Sephiroth's Masamune sword: might I remind you that the series is called _Final _*_Fantasy_* ? And might I also remind you of what J.R.R. Tolkien said in his Epic Rap Battle of History? Namely, that it's *supposed* to be unrealistic when one's dealing with fantasy settings? Furthermore, it is well-established that Masamune isn't an actual sword any more since Sephy entered the Lifestream. At least, not in the normal sense. Instead, it's "a physical manifestation of [Sephiroth's] will", which basically just means that he wills it into existence and that it's basically just Sephy's magical powers that make up its structure, rather than steel or anything like that. Which, essentially, means that normal blade physics no longer apply to Masamune anyway.

Well, Sephiroth's Masemune is often referenced as dumb outside of people who understand the story. However, it's really not that big a deal considering the character's strength. It's also their for lore purpose as SOLDIER were originally created to slay titan sized monsters. Dragon's, Bahemoths, and the such... so of course one of their best SOLDIER's would have a massive weapon like that. Think of it like Monster Hunter, and their silly sized weapons. It's a tool for the job.

Sephiroth basically uses an exaggerated nodachi, which considering who he is isn't hard to believe at all. I really don't get the hate for his sword compared to other fantasy swords. If you like ANY of the weapons in RWBY then you can't complain about an especially long sword being ridiculous.

I collect swords and have owned a nodachi before. It was about 5 feet tall, 2 feet shorter than the masamune, but it's not exactly thor's hammer. Holding it in one hand isn't that big a deal, swinging it with two hands is pretty easy. When you're a super human like Sephiroth, wielding a greatsword with one hand is nothing. Hell Guts' Dragonslayer from Berserk weighs several hundred pounds more than the masamune and Guts is physically weaker than Sephiroth, but I don't hear anyone bitching about Guts' blade. :v

Clearly, Vergil had no idea what "Supernova" was, and if it were a different dimension or not. Sephiroth is practically a god, and you're saying that a biased opinion determined the outcome of this battle, when Tifa from arguably one of the most popular games of all time, vs Yang from a sort of popular anime. RWBY is an ant compared to Final Fantasy VII's legacy. Also, saying that is like saying Squall from Final Fantasy VIII would win against an indie game character, no matter what. (RWBY Fans don't get offended, I enjoy RWBY, I'm just stating facts.) People saying that "Supernova" in its entirety was an illusion are wrong, he uses power to transport the person getting attacked into a different time when the supernova was happening. They easily downplayed Sephiroth for they didn't include Octaslash, Meteor, Heartless Angel he didn't use ANY materia they didn't include other abilities such as, Reaper, Heaven's Light, Scintilla, Hell's Gate, Oblivion, Zanshin, Fervent Blow, they didn't include his other forms in which they gave Vergil his Devil Trigger, Sephiroths other forms hold attacks such as Pale Horse, Deen, Break, In canon, he is able to hit speeds over Mach 10,000, He didn't use Black Materia, or Green Materia, they HEAVILY downplayed Sephiroth. Meanwhile they SLIGHTLY downplayed Vergil by not giving him the Force Edge or Nelo Angelo. From the beginning, Vergil is outmatched by what is seemingly one to ten-million.

This was never a fair fight. But not for the reason you guys think. Sephiroth is just in a completely different league than Virgil. Even if it was Dante and Vergil vs Sephiroth in a 2v1 they still wouldn't stand a chance. His power dwarfs theirs too much. Also keep in mind they severely undervalued him in this and ignored some of his strongest abilities. Hell they gave Virgil a nice sendoff by having the fight last as long as it did. In the end these two should have never been fighting.

Kind of like how Goku should never have been put up against an insurmountable wall like Superman. The difference in their abilities is just too glaring to ignore. Goku over his entire lifespan has worked his hardest to obtain the level of power he's on, and you can see him get stronger and stronger over the course of the series. Superman however experiences little growth in terms of power, as he always has as much as he needs. On the contrary, he grows in character, taking on challenges of morality in the position of someone who could easily dominate the entire universe.

Bayonetta has plenty of ways to lol Dante, DMC healing factors have never really been shown to be super powerful, the most they've done is heal fast enough to stop Vergil/Dante from falling apart after getting cut in half, which looks cool, but someone like Bayonetta would easily be able to get passed that, especially since she has multiple weapons that can hurt your soul, which a healing factor isn't going to help with.

See i have always had a problem with the illusion that Goku can beat Superman, first of all, Goku wants to fight everyone at their strongest, they cannot expect that to change, if it was Frieza that fought Superman, he would have a much higher chance to win, because he exploits weaknesses, like batman did, but he also monologues A LOT, and it has lead to his death/defeat/retreat/whatever happens to him, way too many times, that counts for the full cast of DBZ almost. Secondly, Goku almost always fight during the day, its a minor detail but even the small facts can determine a god damn simulation, with the ridiculous math behind each Death Battle, you can be assured that the instance shown is one of many, but also the most likely, its like people disregard it as a simulation and take it as a fact, which is not what it is, its a percentage based chance, and just so happens that whoever wins has the better chance.

Sword length isn't that stupid actually, at least when thinking of medieval swords. Greats swords such as claymores and zweihanders were typically made to be a full foot taller than the one using them. So if you were over 6 feet tall having a 7 foot sword wasn't odd.

The analysis was bad ass if anything I feel sephiroth was downplayed and Virgil was pretty spot-on you guys need to play the games and you read the luhrs again. And I have basically given up on death battles making these for fans now it's all about their money business but they did a pretty good job in this one and I love both these characters so I think this move is just right and sephiroth sword is ridiculously long but think about it Cloud's Buster sword guts Dragonslayer sword and those are just tiny examples of over-exaggerated swords

Tubesock Gamer Soul edge is a soul caliber weapon Vergil uses force edge which is essentially a longer range but weaker rebellion. And Heartless angel doesn’t mean shit when it isn’t actually damage but a reduction of health that Vergil could instantly heal from. Also considering Sephiroth couldn’t use it in cutscenes etc, I’m pretty sure that the move doesn’t actually exist and is more a gameplay mechanic since cutscene characters don’t have HP bars. And Vergil was heavily nerfed while Seph is getting the Superman treatment. The Superman treatment that they gave him in Goku vs Superman 2

Screw attack's analysis isn't usually spot on. I've seen several cases where they've made huge mistakes. For instance: they claimed that Android 18 could absorb energy despite the fact that in canon 17 & 18 clearly state they use perpetual generators to supply them with constant energy and even mock Gero for going back to the energy absorption methods. In another instance they claim that the super saiyan transformation is a 500% power increase despite the fact that official sources state that the transformation is a 50x multiplier (5000%). There's even a channel that is apparently dedicated to pointing out all the holes in their logic. As far as this one goes while I've never played the Devil May Cry games and it's been ages since I've dusted off FF7 the most glaring issue I noticed with Sephiroth is that their model held the sword in his right hand whereas Sephiroth was left handed, which is meh in the grand scheme of things.

Didn't know they did a podcast and therefore didn't see it. Besides, I didn't say that it affected the match, it was just a visual quirk I noticed. Boiled it down to being a goof and moving on, kinda like seeing a guy in a cowboy hat on a pirate ship in one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, or the power line pole in the background of a scene in Count of Monte Cristo. Just watched the podcast and ... yeah... slight issue with it. I've seen a lot of "official" Sephiroth photos and not once seen him hold the sword in his right hand. In the images where he's gripping it in both hands his stance indicates a left-handed technique. The only time I've ever seen Sephiroth use the sword in his right hand is fan-made pictures or when people have mirrored an image (or movie/game footage) to "avoid copyright". Also, their explanation for Link switching hands is flawed in that it isn't the same character. All Legend of Zelda games take place at different points in time from one another and feature similar (but different) people.

Vincent Shinzen They severely nerfed Sephiroth in order to give Virgil even the illusion of a chance in hell of maybe beating Sephiroth. They also didn't give him Pale Horse which is basically the fight ending right there.

Both are way too OP and I kinda expected Vergil to win seeing as he has an extremely powerful healing factor, but I forgot that according to the FF Lore, Sephiroth has become way too inhuman and powerful, he doesn't even need to breath anymore, making it seem that his power is way too much that oxygen isn't even needed anymore.

@@GokuInfintysaiyan I know this is a bit late buuut... clearly you don't understand what Heartless Angel does when it hits something (usually it's seen as an unavoidable attack), it sets them to as close to death as possible without actually killing the, and renders them immobile for a couple of seconds... not to mention Pale Horse which turns things it hits into frogs which prevents the person inflicted with it from using most of their powers... also, one last thing, Supernova also has an added ability of applying status effects onto whatever it hits, three random ones at that, these can range from Slow to Poison to Stop... hell, if we just want to go full OP mode, Sephiroth has access to a spell called Doom which puts a countdown over an enemy's head and when that timer reaches 0, the one inflicted with it just dies, no way of avoiding it once it's inflicted either unless if the one who cast it is killed.

Sephiroth is clearly the superior fighter, only lacking in Speed to Virgil, and sephiroth is the more iconic character as well (that's a fact not opinion more people recognise sephiroth) which is probably why they were so salty and he is equally as bad ass as vergil both are anime like characters, it's sad that most of the crew went out if their way to insult sephiroth and final fantasy.

I wasn't too convinced by this fight as it seemed that both combatants were... turned down, quite a bit, and one combatant in particular had abilities which were more or less theoretical, so I'm not too convinced it would have worked quite as effectively as it appeared. I'm fine if the battle would have gone the same way if the research was all there and canon to the character instead of theoretical, as long as the research is complete and canon, and not just filled with theoretical ideas on what the attacks "may" have been like.

As a Final Fantasy fan, I do question whether Sephiroth could create so many illusionary clones, and they allowed Sephiroth to use SuperNova in his "base" form... though they have given abilities to other charactesr who could only use them in oither forms before. That said, they heavily downplayed Cloud in his fight, giving him next to no equipment, but allowing Link almost all of his. Tifa's fight I accept as a loss. These two, I think they downplayed one, and slightly overplayed the other. Still think Sephiroth would have won, just in a different way.

Yeah this fight was bullshit from the start. They included every power Sephiroth has ever used without context as to how and why he could use those certain abilities but there is a better video explaining why they overexadurated Sephiroth in this fight and downplayed Vergil. Sephiroth would never have a chance to heal without getting attacked by Vergil and the whole supernova thing could only happen when Sephiroth was in his Seraphim form. Plus even if he could Vergil could escape it. I like both characters but from an analytical standpoint normal Sephiroth vs Vergil with no healing, Vergil wins simply because of his speed blitzing. Sephiroth has never fought anybody even close to how Vergil is not including Devil trigger which more then doubles his speed and strength. Or the simple argument...if Sephiroth in his base form can be beaten by Cloud, HOW can he stand a chance against Vergil?

My main complaint is that Vergil was in Devil Trigger while getting hit by an illusion trying to copy the damage a sun can do. In terms of game mechanics, Vergil would have lessened the damage at the same time as he is healing faster till the moment he is out, having enough health to still fight

To be blunt, I've never liked Sephiroth to begin with. At least, not as much as other characters. However, I saw it coming for this fight in particular. Reason being that whenever I fought him in any game, he gave me so much damn trouble. Even in weird games like Kingdom Hearts, he was a bastard to deal with. No offense to anyone who likes Vergil. Crap, I like him even more than Dante. But, when a guy who proves to be harder to deal with than any monster/boss from Dark Souls, I kind of have to give props.
