A little correction. When Roosevel got shot, he neither got stitched up or got the bullet removed. He just had his speech while still bleeding. He stood there in front of all those people and gave his speech for over 1 hour until he finally allowed himself to be taken to the hospital, where he was treated. But they couldn't remove the the bullet. He carried the bullet with him to the end of his days.

"Tread softly and carry a big stick" is the quote by Roosevelt. And what he meant was when it comes to politics, be careful what you say, and be ready to fight. In short one mispoken word and you may have a war on your hands so be sure your military is ready to meet it.

They were both badass in their own unique ways, Roosevelt the brave adventuring president and Curchill the gentleman tactician of a prime minister. This is how I imagine it going if they ever met in real life Churchill - Mr. Roosevelt, an honor to meet you good sir. Roosevelt - The pleasure is all mine, Prime Minister Churchill.

my favourite Churchill moment/factoid is the story of him being in his study when a government worker rushed in to inform him of a scandal that had broke out as a male MP had been caught outside the previous night having sex with a royal guardsman in a bush, Churchill's response: "last night? it was very cold last night wasn't it?" the other man replied: "yes sir it was the coldest night we've had in about 30 years" Churchill smirks and says: "makes you proud to be British!" :P

Oh come on. Teddy Roosevelt creates the meat inspection act which made sure meat production would be clean. The antiquities act so there are national parks. I'm watching this for the second time, to me this is like Quality vs Quantity. Roosevelt got a reaction out of me more often but that ending Churchill had with "Whatever shit you throw at me, I'll just return to sender. I'll Battle till the end and I will NEVER SURRENDERRR!!!" just got me feeling hyped and honestly if he really was like that IRL then I'm not surprised people speak so highly of his public speeches.

I know I'm late to the party kn this one but I've only recently discovered this channel. Anyway I've noticed a common misunderstanding about Roosevelt's "speak softly and carry a big stick" line. He was referring to what he believed was the ideal foreign policy/ way in which a man should carry himself. Which was never raise your voice or beat your chest or pick fights with other nations/people and try to avoid stepping on toes. But also carry a big stick (in the USAs case at the time, a state of the art navy) so that if someone tries to cross you or mess with you, you can smack them down. Lol

@@claymoreroomba8097 On 11 December 1941, four days after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and the United States declaration of war against the Japanese Empire, Nazi Germany declared war against the United States, in response to what was claimed to be a series of provocations by the United States government when the U.S. was still officially neutral during World War II. The decision to declare war was made by Adolf Hitler, apparently offhand, almost without consultation. It has been referred to as Hitler's "most puzzling" decision of World War II.[1] Publicly, the formal declaration was made to American Chargé d'Affaires Leland B. Morris by German Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop in the latter's office. Later that day, the U.S. declared war on Germany.

One line that everyone seems to have missed the joke on is the "I might be battling you even though I'm toasted but in the morning I'll be sober and you'll still be roasted". You say that but in the end he was a coward who knew little of strategy and the cost of a life, even being a veteran he never actually got into the type of combat that Roosevelt excelled in. Besides Roosevelt took on the Elite Puerto Rican entrenched regiment on SanJuan hill in Cuba and Won, an achievement that the entire US armed forces have never succeeded in doing even in modern day(I should know considering the ENTIRE US ARMED FORCES went and fought against the Puerto Rico regiment and lost badly(this was just before Korea) (Roosevelt is the ONLY military commander that has succeeded in beating the defensive capabilities of the Puerto Rican regiments, a fact that earns him Respect and honor in even modern Puerto Rico)

@@josecolon2717 What the hell are you talking about? Churchill went over the top during WW1, right into the teeth of the meatgrinder that was the western front. That is a far more amazing accomplishment than a singular charge up a hill, outnumbering your opponent 16 to 1. The 'Puerto Rican' troops of the Spanish Army were from Spain, but only stationed there as the part of the regular force. Puerto Ricans in the USAF is composed of an entirely different military outfit than that of the Spanish in the last years of the 19th century.

several of them talk about what a warrior roosevelt was, seemingly forgetting just how many wars chruchill fought in, as well as the plane crashes he was involved in while teaching himself how to fly. speaking of which churchill once didnt receive an invitation to a gathering of european leaders in france so he simply hopped into a plane and flew over there, crashing the party and turning up anyway (my personal favourite story about him). despite this its hard to call who won the battle. both had some excellent lines

You're right about Washington having custom teeth but they were carved out of ivory not wood. Remember Ivory is elephant tusk so it is a simulated texture and color to human teeth. I think I also heard he had a pair made of porcelain which is still used today in dentistry for crowns of root canals (ask me how I know).

Churchill was leader of the 35 million km2 British Empire. By comparison the U.S is 10 million km2. So the line regarding the size of Britain as one state would only apply to the modern day. Britain was three and a half times the size of the entire U.S during Churchills premiership.

One of the most enduring myths about George Washington is that his dentures were made of wood. It’s quite possible that some of his dentures, particularly after they had been stained, took on a wooden complexion, but wood was never used in the construction of any of his dental fittings. Throughout his life Washington employed numerous full and partial dentures that were constructed of materials including human, and probably cow and horse teeth, ivory (possibly elephant), lead-tin alloy, copper alloy (possibly brass), and silver alloy.
