This is good information because I juts recently got a house. The countertops still look good and was thinking about getting new cabinets. I was told that,I should just reface them.

I kinda agree that it looked better before, but that is because the new doors and drawer faces don't match my tastes. Keeping that in mind, I think the cabinet veneer itself actually looked quite good.

I've always wondered why the interior surfaces (90 degrees from the face) of the stiles and rails are never done. To me, that's what makes the job look half done and cheap.

@ron34786 certainly companies are available to homeowners whose refacing prices will surpass the price of buying new cabinets at certain price-points; it is unlikely that would happen if you work with a Showplace dealer quoting new Showplace cabinets vs. Showplace Renew refacing. Even so, from a total project-cost standpoint, much of the savings with refacing projects is when counters, flooring, electrical, plumbing are unchanged. Showplace Renew should save vs. most any other refacing brand.

I love it! Those golden oak cabinets were very outdated.

Ok this looks like it could be more expensive than just buying new cabinets.
@CabinetFLIX10 жыл бұрын
carmay3600 no, it really isn't more expensive; in fact, if you keep your counter tops and there aren't a lot of changes in plumbing, electrical or flooring, it can have a much lower overall project cost. But perhaps the biggest positive is that there is so much less disruption to your life...no real big mess and in-and-out of the home in a day or two. We also build cabinets though, so we don't discourage that either. Thanks for watching.

CabinetFLIX Thank you for responding. Unfortunately my cabinets may be too awful to reface. I'll take a look at your website to try and find information on the cabinets that you build, So far we have priced Wolf, Home Depot and Home Emporium. Home Depot came out and measured. They emailed an invoice of the removal and installation cost. I literally laughed out loud when I saw the $16,000 quote JUST FOR INSTALLATION! That was over 2 months ago and its STILL funny. We own a town house in which we will not spend $16,000 on any 1 project.

Our web site is www.ShowplaceWood.com and there is a dealer locator where you can find an authorized dealer near you. If you'd like to email marketing@showplacewood.com directly with where you live, we could help you identify a dealer that might best be able to help you. I know this is outside of what you would be looking for, but here are photos just taken this week from a home that shows just how far you can go in updating style using our refacing process, without tearing the whole house apart: www.dropbox.com/sh/u9e1hczq4uxbulr/4VPRJQMDZi (although not every Showplace dealer provides refacing).

BTW, we actually have dealers with showrooms where you can see the big orange HD sign through their front window. And they don't fear losing business to their big box neighbor. HD is good for many things but we're not so sure kitchen remodels are their forte. :-)
