Sir, Oz Perkins absolutely has a strong name in the horror genre.

@@davidsantacarla please listen to the comparison I make in the video, in this context I'm only saying compared to a Steven Spielberg (for example), exaggerating to make a point and all that. I know he is a name, hardcore movie fans know him, but not for general audiences

People not into movies won't know him like they know Cameron, Spielberg, or even Shyamalan. Not yet, anyway.... First movie I watched was I Am The Pretty Thing... Slow burn of a movie... Which terrorized me for months afterwards. 😂😂😂 Love the atmosphere he puts in his films.

Spoilers. The second the two FBI pulled into the neighborhood at the beginning I knew Agent Redshirt was a dead man. This movie was extremely predictable, and worse: it actively gave its "secrets" away at each and every earliest opportunity which removed all suspense, or interest for that matter. The psychic schtick lasted approximately as long as the scenes it was introduced in, and was then almost completely ignored. The characters all seemed to be on the same quirkily half-speed overdramatic wavelength which made all the performances blend together. The exceptions were Detective Supervisor Man who was completely boilerplate until the end, and NicC who was as ridiculous as his costume. When they ultrasounded the doll brain Satan mcguffin was a real eye rolling moment too. I give it a 3.2/10 and a Hail Satan for the artsy cinematography and a couple of subtle, fleeting images. Save it for a cold and dreary night at home maybe? Or not.

Walking: the movie 😂 Writer - how can I make walking scary? Gory? Let's make a cheap rip off of Friday the 13th and call Jason Johnny. Then waste the last 20 minutes when the last girl goes in the truck with the lady and nothing happens after that. Johnny gets his necklace thingy back.

Oz Perkins bleeds style... I mean, I loved "February" (The Blackcoats Daughter) for it's heavy and distinct creepiness that lurks just out of sight, but you're aware of it. "Gretel and Hansel" was also crawling eeriness. I am very much looking forward to this! I love the marketing of the picture. So far this year, I think Abigail, The First Omen and Late Night with the Devil are my favorites.

@@DonovanGG__ I jumped once in the first 7 minutes, the rest was just boring, too many plot holes, not scary at all and eye rolling cringe. It was trying entirely too hard to be deep and suspenseful but just seemed poorly executed. Especially the last 40 minutes or so. Everyone in the theater I was in was just talking and not into it at that point

Listening to all these reviews, I expect a "silence of the lambs" directed by a competent person, not only rellying on the stellar performances of its cast... I will find out this weekend. Oz did February which was so creepy and that netflix disaster, that still managed to capture liminal atmosphere that still haunts me.
