Hello everyone. I'm Dilay. Thank you for watching the video and for your beautiful comments. Even reading the comments brings tears to my eyes. I just wanted to make a correction. I see that one of the information I gave in the video is incorrect. Rm and Suga wrote this song about friendship and lost friends. These theories apply to the MV of the song and as we know Bts has never confirmed these theories. I also see that there are some governmental problems related to this issue, but I will not go into detail here, because many Army have made very good and detailed explanations in the comments. In the end, no matter what, this beautiful song gives many people the strength to move on and remember their loved ones. That's why it's so valuable. Thank you again and condolences to those who have lost loved ones. 🙏🎗

I can’t tell you how much I enjoy your reactions…you are not fake and your courteousness is not something you see in humanity and for sure don’t see on social media….regarding this video I THINK they said BTS was the first to respond as far as Kpop groups go….they have to be very careful as they would get in trouble if they said anything about the government but BTS is very clever…not only in this video but also their other videos they are famously known for leaving clues in their videos we call Easter eggs and it depends on how far into the rabbit hole you are as to if you can spot what they are telling us…I’m always excited for the next video…I will be a subscriber for life💜💜💜💜

Thanx for this clarification. I thought I was losing my memory 🙃. Just wanted to let you know that I really love your reactions. Also I thought you might be interested in a programme that explains the BTS phenomenon (it's about an hour long) that's done by a South Korean lecturer who's an ARMY. I'm providing the link below and I hope you'll find it as informative as I did. There's also a segment about 'Spring Day' and what one ARMY did. It's truly very touching. I also hope you can react to it, if it's not too much 🙂 kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5LNYotta81lo7M

@@angie7777-7 *Italian* *Army* has the better explanation vid "what you still don't know about BTS spring day". I don't think Idols made any music about it. But Korean musicians - especially rappers - did already back in 2014. "Spring Day" is from 2017. Nevermind that the song was written about missing/loosing friends. I think that was about the time Namjoon (RM) called old friends who told him that they did not dare call him first because he was famous now and it would look bad if they did. So he vowed to call them more often himself. With Yoongi (Suga) I'm less sure about the timeline because I do not know when this happened or if at all: A friend of his got into drugs and that is an absolut no-no in the Korean entertainment scene and Yoongi may have broken the firendship over it. Mind you the song is an embodiment of the Korean emotion of "Han" and I see the stages of grief in it. MV and choreo are definetly about the desaster. And it is known how and why the ship sank. There are a at least one documentary about it and I think the articles on wikipedia have it, too. Italian Army also explains a bit. I think this vid overexplaines some small details - maybe even missexplains while overlooking other stuff - which is why some people dismiss it as "theory".

Never ever apologise for crying, especially at Spring Day. I have heard it, and watched the MV dozens if times and always weep. It remains in the Korean charts ever since, and in Korea is known as 'the Queen'. The ferry sinking was worse than a tragedy, since it was avoidable from the start (caused by illegally overloading containers on deck) and ALL the loss of life was also avoidable ... they literally had hours to evacuate and not only did nothing but prevented others from rescuing passengers. Its incredible. The song was written about simply missing a close friend, but it's generally accepted that the MV is about the Sewol disaster. It is a masterpiece.

Two days ago, I went to the Sewol Ferry memorial site on Jeju Island with my family. Ten years later, my daughter is now a second year in high school like them. The parents of the children who could not arrive in Jeju brought their children's photos to Jeju Island on their behalf. . Even after ten years, we must not forget it and monitor and change it so that a tragedy like this never happens anywhere again. In particular, we need to speak out to prevent accidents that are unreasonable or caused by man-made disasters.

💜🙏Thank you for sharing your heartfelt reaction to Spring Day.... i don't know if you can translate into Turkish but.... I want to share with you a comment to another reactor from a survivor of the Sewol disaster.. I would like you to hear from him just how BTS has healed him through this song and the messages they have: His name is Chilo Abellon - and this is his public comment in full - unedited - from 3 years ago.......... "I remembered when they rescuing us its so tragic when you see your classmates/friends stuck asking and hearing them scream for help, the screaming and voices of people asking for help while the ships is sinking the scream slowly vanished. When you can’t help them because the water got deeper and deeper while they rescue us slowly. The time that i got rescued only 3 of us survived, my two classmates and i in our and my other classmates stuck in the ships hoping they’re still alive but when the time i heard the news that they’re all gone. It slowly sinking in that all my friends and the other class are gone and will never comeback. I feel guilty when I survived, I’m thinking am i lucky? Or is it not right that i was alive and not them? Do i deserve to live?. Feeling depressed, having su!cidal thoughts, every night you can’t sleep because i keep hearing those scream a scream people needing a help but you can’t because your weak and got broken bones. Everything time I struggled to see what life is all about, thinking what if all of my friends survived and they with me survived. It would be dream to see that happening. I struggled to make a good life that i can be proud of because of that incident happened but when i found out about BTS my life changed me because of their music they changed my life the way that i can be proud of and I started loving myself by little by little and finally the day I realize life is so short and the incident happened 7years ago impacted my life to be a better person and all of our hardships are just a big task for us to make them done and the outcome will be 100times better the incident happened 7years ago thought me so many things. The biggest one is don’t forget they might be gone but don’t forget them put them on your heart and like life all of your hardship and your mistakes will not lose or fail you it’s always a win win situation because we always learn from them. Spring day is my number 1 fav song of BTS because I reminisce the things happened 7years ago while watching the mv and it always help me to keep going in life and do not give up on things that i want to achieve - My name is Chilo one of the survivors of the sewol ferry incident." I truly hope he does not mind me passing on his public comment - but this best shows the power of BTS message. The worst thing about the disaster - the captain and most of the crew fled the ship in the morning 9.35 - the ferry did not sink until the night - they left the warning to "not move and stay still" playing on a loop through the ship. Only the children that disobeyed the warning survived. The others drowned as they were so ingrained to listen to authority. The civilian boats that attempted to rescue people were stopped by the coast guard as people would discover the boat was illegally overloaded. Parents on the shore were receiving desperate calls and texts from their children begging for help. And the coastguard did nothing. The only rescue the coastguard made that day was the captain and crew... The people that got rescued were rescued by fishing vessels that got there first before they were stopped... 3 years the ferry lay at the bottom as the Govt would not raise it for fear of discovering the truth.... They found video footage taken on mobile phones that were recovered of children wishing their families goodbye. 3 crew members stayed behind to try and help the children, they all lost their lives, along with one of the rescue divers. Also, one of the civilian rescue divers later committed su!cide after having to recover so many childrens bodies, knowing that he could have saved them but was forcibly stopped. As a parent, I could not comprehend having to live through such a thing. Horrific that your own government would perpetrate and then cover up such an incident... jailing dissenters for protesting. It was proven that there were high officials with financial interests in the ferry. The president colluded with them to bury the truth and hamper investigations... 10000 people in the public eye (reporters, artists, etc) put on a Govt blacklist for speaking about it. BTS went and paid respects to the parents of the victims in 2014 when the tragedy occurred. No Cameras - No fanfair - just doing what was right...They also donated approx $100,000 (that year they only earnt $300,000 - they gave 1/3 of their earnings) to help the parents in their fight for justice.... We only found out about the donation years later as one of the parents was sick of all the hatred BTS was always getting and wanted others to know what decent and good people they are. The MV, The album cover, The choreography all relate back to the Sewol. But the song itself is about missing anyone you love and are separated from. They were singing Spring Day during the panademic as the world was longing for a spring day. Spring Day has never left the music charts. To this day, it is right that this song is still in the top 100 charts.... 7 years later, as this song still speaks to people everywhere. Sorry this is so long - but I really wanted to pass his comment and information to you relating to your Spring Day reaction video.... with posting your reaction you have helped keep the memory of Sewol alive and maybe others who do not know of it will learn of the tragedy. Thank you for sharing your journey, and helping to spread BTS message... Sending greetings and love from Australia.... BORAHAE💜 #WeNeverWalkAlone

Given the scandal that followed this tragedy revealing the corruption of many civil servants...the government tried to cover up the affair but faced with the tenacity of the victims' parents, all of Korea "rose up" Make a song on this tragedy was important for BTS who stood in solidarity with the families. RM and the boys were very young and did not hesitate to produce this magnificent tribute to the victims...we can emphasize the fact that Big Hit did not oppose this decision despite the risk of being perceived as an attack by the government....One more proof of the commitment of the boys to defend their ideas of social justice....This song did not have a commercial aim but rather to help the parents of the victims who also made it their anthem. ..Thank you for your very sincere reaction...You were already admiring of BTS...now you will perhaps understand better why there are millions of us who love them and above all respect them.Thank you

The Sewol sank in 2014. Spring Day dropped in 2017. 3 years later. The song was about a loss of friendship and "only" MV and choreo are about the desaster. I don't think they were on any lists. As far as I can tell they may be the only Idols that used the theme but plenty of other Korean musicians did, too. K-Army has put the song on their playlists when they stream new BTS songs. Details I don't know.

her dinlediğimde nefes almakta zorlanıyorum gerçekten.

Spring Day is so special for people in Korea. I remember the tragedy, watching the news and holding my 2 year old baby and thinking about those kids and their parents, it always brings me to tears but I like to watch reactions about it because I think it makes people realise the impact of the tragedy and BTS's big heart. I think it was a bit faster than this. I remember a clip of the air gushing out from the balloon they tried to put into the ship to stop the farther sinking and it was still light. Mind you they had to already dive to try that - unfortunately a civilian diver that was forced to help them had pointed out that their equipment was unlikely to work right - his did I think - and as predicted the diver had to be recalled very soon. There is at least one documentary out there about it. I stopped watching somewhen in the middle because the footage was too much and they included all the messages that went over the chain of command explaining why everything was so slow and done so badly.

At first, they couldn't say it was about the tragedy, but after the condemnations, all the theories were confirmed. I cried like you, Dilay and Çagim, after watching the Italian Army explanation (more visual, sadder), I cried for a good time, sobbing. A stupid tragedy like that breaks any heart. Thanks for the reaction, I'm sorry if it was too sad, but, as always, BTS transformed bad experiences in art, a healing art. This song is called The Queen because it's always on top of the Korean charts.

Please don't apologize for crying or not crying. We all express our emotions differently. I always cry when watching this video. Although the song was actually written in reference to a friendship when they did the music video it was done as a story about the Sewol Ferry incident and a tribute to those who lost their lives. The explanation video you watched is very good and the Italian one that people below mentioned is a little more in depth, very good and very emotional. I like your reaction videos very much and appreciate all your comments and observations. Thank you.

Beautiful reaction, I cried with you all :P I've seen this many times but still cry. BTS donated to the families of the victims back then, even though their company and themselves hadn't made any money from music yet. The government tried to really cover this event up and artists talking about it would get blacklisted. The references to the tragedy are incredibly subtle because BTS had to be subtle, it wasn't allowed to be talked about. Despite that, they still chose to address the issue in this way. There's many many many more references in the song/MV, it's a masterpiece. (For example the horn in the beginning isn't of a train, the spinning washing machines represent the windows of the ship, etc etc). But the overview you all watched was a good overview. BTS often use references to movies, art and books as you again see in this song.

Oh no please keep doing the “bogoshipda” singing. Although this song is associated with this tragedy, I think it’s also taken on several meanings, both personal (for any listener) or BTS related. During the pandemic it’s a song that expressed the longing to see each other again, BTS and ARMY, and that Spring will come. They also sang this during their last concerts before enlistment and so again it’s a hopeful song that we will see each other again. I’ve come to cherish this bittersweet song and I hope the sweetness of it will surface more instead of the bitter for you soon. I always enjoy your reaction, thank you.

It will soon be the 10th anniversary of the Sewol Ferry Disaster. At the time of the Sewol Ferry Disaster, President Park was the daughter of a president who had been dictatorial decades earlier and was supported by conservative forces. The generation that experienced rapid social development during the dictatorship and after the Korean War amid the sacrifices of many working class people. She missed President Park Chung-hee and believed that her daughter would do well, but after Park Geun-hye became president, she only cared about herself and did not care about the people and victims. At that time, celebrities who mentioned the Sewol Ferry were blacklisted and suffered disadvantages. BTS, who donated money to the bereaved families and made a music video for Spring Day, was also targeted. As a result of the disaster at that time, many Koreans suffered from depression and trauma for a long time. But they couldn't stay still because they were sad or angry. I took to the streets with my family for several cold winter months, raising my voice and shouting to reveal the truth about the tragedy. At the time, the president was not interested in saving the people from disaster. She used this politically, discussing and deciding national affairs with women with whom she was close, and she was only interested in pursuing personal interests. Critics of the regime were blacklisted and treated unequally. BTS was hated by the government at the time for comforting and donating to the families of the victims of the disaster. Afterwards, angry citizens held candlelight protests for months, and even during that cold winter, millions of citizens peacefully protested and impeached the president. I hope this never happens again anywhere else. Since then, the administration has changed for the second time, and the current administration is also politicians who followed the president who was impeached at the time. They did not reflect on anything after the disaster and have not even learned anything. Another tragedy called the Itaewon disaster plunged the people into sorrow, but even that They used it as a tool of political struggle and only used it for political purposes. The disaster could have been prevented even if they had not ignored the numerous signs warning of danger. Ironically, those who blacklisted BTS tried to use BTS' global influence politically. Even just before BTS enlisted, they visited their agency and pressured BTS's parents to give a free concert to promote the Busan Expo. As a result, the members began enlisting later than scheduled after the concert.

At this point i can say every country is under the rule of politicians (who actually not aware of their ppl needs) how come the politics never done anything good but targeted BTS who helped the ppl in need even though they are undergoing with hardships being a teen group under the bighit which is actually under going bankrupts, I remember k-government giving military exception for BTS and want them to give a free concert although they gave free concert for us, they never wanted to involve regarding political related stuff they didn't accept the special treatment offered by the government (isn't it obv gov try using bts for the political benefits only as they kn BTS are the main reason why korean economy is increasing rapidly) I love how they declined the gov offer and went to serve their country in military on their own wish we are proud you bangtan. thank you we aren't aware of the gov targeting bts in the spring day era thank you for letting us kn in clear way🤍( as ukn issues like this are exposed in rare)

Never apologize for being emotional, we all go through it, in our own ways. Some more outwardly, and others quietly and internally. But it’s one of those songs that makes you feel something. I usually go from rage at the injustice to sadness thinking of those who lost their loved ones, to a hope that it will never happen again as long as we are vigilant in not forgetting the mistakes of the past. That is BTS for you, one moment you are laughing hysterically at their funny antics, then bawling your eyes out at a deeply meaningful song. Sometimes I just listen to them and I don’t eleven know why I am crying so hard..then you realize that there is something in their lyrics that hits you, helps you bring it to light instead of buying it, and then gives you a bit of hope to overcome. That is the genius of them, is that no matter how dark, they will always put some positivity or hopefulness in their songs, to remind you that there is some ray of light to cling to. Great reaction, keep them coming!

I'm only 8:41 seconds into your reaction but I can tell you are really thinking about and interpreting the meanings to the song lyrics as well as the contents of the video. You don't know it yet, but many of the concepts you've mentioned are very close to what many think the song means and because music is open to interpretation, you aren't wrong and what you're saying is definitely one way to interpret it. Many reaction channels don't even try to talk about what they think it means, so not only are your interpretations appreciated but it demonstrates your own artistic sides. It is exposure to art, poetry, music that informs how we interact with and interpret the world or other people's work. 💜

The ferry had been 'converted' which was not within the legal weight regulations and so was extremely overweight. A lot of the footage from the news crews was heartbreaking, the volunteer divers were willing to get the students out but were stopped by the coast guard... I'm guessing the only reason for this is so the ferry would sink and cover up all the corruption of the government and authorities.... rescue boats from civilians were turned away whilst the parents and families remained on the wharf still being able to see their children alive in the windows of the ferry as the crew were saved. Korean children are very polite and stayed in place because they were told to by the captain and crew. I doubt western teenagers would have remained in their cabins and would mostly, I imagine , have survived.
@ruthfischer7615
@ruthfischer7615 7 ай бұрын
Nope. It was because if someone rescued someone it needed to be the coastguard not civilians: it's a matter of "face"/station. which is why the messages that were send up the command chain held so many lies and orders were given on a perceived "resolved" situation instead of the real one. Holding on the "look good" even if it does not acomplish anything was important and as such overrode helping - which they couldn't do because they were not trained for that and had faulty equipment. I heard that an US ship wanting to help was also send away. I made it through about half a documentary were all these messages over the coast guard etc. was in before I couldn't do it anymore. We in Europe and NA simply do not think like that.

I have to say - maybe it's because I'm German, but those piles of clothes always remind me of the Holocaust. In IU's video for "Love wins all", they also used the Boltanski reference, but I have yet to find out, whether or not he himself was referencing Auschwitz with it. He had a jewish father as far as I know and in Auschwitz, they also piled up the clothes, the people wore upon their arrival there. I get so extremely choked up and emotional about this, it's horrible. And @Dilay: How precious are you to translate everything in handwriting for the boys? That's such a deep level of devotion, not only to BTS, their music and us viewers, but also to your boys. I hope you're being appreciated accordingly, it is not taken for granted. 💜 @Cagin: Never apologize for your tears. We all felt that. We got you, ARMY is a safe space.

It's not surprising the pile of clothes reminds you of the Holocaust. Here's a video clip of the art installation: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYmxdWR9j8l1sK8

@@evacaspers4053 You're welcome. I had the same association when I first saw the music video (also, memories, like Çağin said). Although I had not been to the exhibition, I knew about Boltanski's art installation, so I looked it up. I think the exhibition video, also the beginning with the stacked metal boxes with numbers on them, shows a strong association with the Holocaust. The only reference I could find was in Le Figaro.
