I've listed several cars on BaT from 911 to 308 to FFR Cobra to Alfa Romeo . . . and you're correct they give incredible exposure and results. Patrick is a class act - you will enjoy working with him! The final 15 minutes of each listing has always been exciting & entertaining 😎

I sold my first car on BAT. Plan on a minimum of 6 weeks from submission to listing. Send pics of everything, every classic car has its notorious weak spots, be it rust or whatever, show those spots. Include a cold start up video and use a electronic thermometer to show its cold. If it has AC, do the same. Include some drive by videos. The most important thing is, be ready to answer questions promptly. Some tire kickers will many times try and hi-Jack your auction via bad comments, be ready to extinguish those if what they are saying isn’t legit. I would also start showing previews on whatever Social media or forums that you frequent for your type of car. I did these things and doubled my reserve. Good luck!

I hope this does well for you...this blue T is actually my favorite car in your collection so I hate to see it go but hope it does well for you.

I work on old Porsche's and around air cooled cars daily. I have plenty of seat time with every model, from an early SWB to a late 993 Turbo. I've also owned a 93 964C2, a 79 911SC, and a 69 911E. Guess which is my favorite and the one I will never part with? The 69. Everyone has reasons for selling and I get it, just hope you don't have any later regrets (I've had many with selling various cars over the years).The 69 is such a funky model too, a LWB but with so many early SWB touches (one example, the door handles). Glad you had your time with it and hope it goes to a good home.

Great channel and good info! This vid peaked my interest as I use to own a 1970 911E from 1983 to 1987. Get this…I paid $5,500 for the car! Drove it in college and loved it but you just don’t appreciate certain things as a 22 year old kid! A chain tensioner went out in it and blew the motor! I needed transportation due to my first job out of college and traded it in on a new Toyota FX 16 gts, argghhh!! Just didn’t have the funds at that age to maintain it but I’ve kicked myself many times in my older age wishing I still had it of course! Would have been a hell of an investment! Not sure what the name of the color scheme on the car but I believe it was pretty rare. It was a bluish green color. Thanks for letting me share my long winded adventure, lol! I’ve been the owner of an 86.5 928S five speed for 25 years and will get buried in that car! I will get another 911 again though as there’s nothing like them!!

I knew it, when I asked you a few weeks ago when the car was not in the garage my Spidey-senses were tingling that the move was on. It’s going to do well on BAT!! This video was very informative and I like the Idea of using someone like Patrick because I don’t have the time or desire to post and answer all the normal flood of questions on BAT!! Congrats Will. Sorry to see it depart the fleet but I certainly understand.

Thank you very much. An informative and also educational video. No doubt market interest will be high. And I thank you for being so thoughtful about the process of keeping a Porsche collection and sharing your findings with fellow enthusiasts. Keep thinking, have you reached out to say Magnus Walker that the 911 hot rod is going to be auctioned? Maybe a 'patina' Porsche 911 comes to you next, no further worries, just to drive the American roads :) Thank you again, good luck, will be following along, what an awesome purchasing oppertunity for like-minded air cooled aficianados. After owning the Ossi blue for 8 or so months, I found I wasn’t really reaching for it. A very visceral experience and a hoot to rip backroads in, but much of my driving is around town, or highway driving to see buddies in other towns. That, plus the fact that I have been so engaged with my ice green car led me to the conclusion that it’s time to move it along to the next caretaker. I am an “experience” guy, meaning that I really enjoying trying different 911’s then they typically find their way out of the garage. I really spared no expense in getting the car dialed and have enjoyed that part of the journey as well. And now I can say I owned and enjoyed an early 911 hot rod.

Wow. I was surprised given the mods you did and short time of ownership. My "opinion" of your 3 air cooled cars this one was the most "interesting" whatever that means :) long hoods are just so iconic. I get the consignment angle since I am sure they will do great pictures, paint meter readings, be obsessive on responding to requests, etc. I sold a 911 on pcarmarket myself and not so hard bit I am sure I could have improved my presentation and gotten a bit more money.
@Rennthusiast Жыл бұрын
I have gotten to a place in my life where I’m ok improving the cars in alignment with my vision, experiencing them for as long as I enjoy them then moving them along to the next owner. I have lost money on some and been ok on others. But I have landed on the idea that this is my hobby and the joy comes from the journey, not necessarily being obsessive about the money angle. Do I hope to make out well on the sale? Yes. But if I don’t will I lose sleep or stop enjoying these cars? Not really. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Hello again Will. So I watch the entire video you made with the seller or that guy Patrick and I still don’t know for sure the arrangements that you made with him and frankly, it’s none of my business It does sound to me now, like you are going to pay him of a fee of your selling price to handle the details rather than selling him the car and having him recover his money on bring a trailer which I originally thought the plan was based on the starting video As I mentioned, I’ve sold two or three cars on bring a trailer so I’m pretty familiar with the system It’s not that difficult if you have the time However, if you’re dealing with two or three other Porsches. and a full-time job, perhaps it’s worth a small percentage of your selling price to have someone else that’s knowledgeable and done it frequently do it for you And finally, I will say this about bring a trailer I live an hour and a half away from San Francisco and that’s where bring a trailer is based They started out as a small auction site and has Patrick mentioned they are now, if not the biggest one of the biggest online sites They are making millions and millions of dollars a year and with the growth of their company and auction site so has the red tape and difficulties, length of time, etc. etc. increased In my humble opinion, they are too big for their britches frankly now that they are so well-established That said, an auction site, as I mentioned earlier, is arguably the best place to sell your vehicle because as soon as you get two people interested, the selling price has nowhere to go but up Anyway, good luck that’s a hot rod little Porsche. I like it myself

As I mention in the video, I just don’t find myself driving it that often. It’s not a great “all-arounder” for me meaning that it’s difficult to just jump in and roll around town in. I typically reach for my 993 or my Cayman S for most of the types of driving I do. The ice green mid-year 3.2 option covers off enough of a truly vintage driving experience without the sharp edges delivered by the 69T. And I love, love, love the cosmetics of that car. So, it doesn’t make sense for the ossi blue car to just sit. I’m sure I’ll end up replacing this with something at some point and have a couple of ideas for a little down the line. If you’ve watched my channel you’ll know I’m a compulsive “911 experiencer” and I have essentially checked the box of owning an MFI long hood hot rod.
@jakkovaningen8350 Жыл бұрын
Wow, the longhood had a short stay with you. Already curious what will come to replace it! May I guess... a 2nd try at a 964 (wishful thinking, maybe 😉). Thanks for explaining BaT. Are they active in Europe? Never heard of anyone using it on this side of the Atlantic...
@Rennthusiast Жыл бұрын
Haha no 964. I feel like you have 2 camps: those who prefer 964’s over 993’s and vice versa. I’m solidly in the 993 camp and discovered I don’t need both.

Curious how is Cars and Bids affecting BAT. Seems like BAT is now so big, it is kind of gotten too big. Did you consider using C & B?
@shootahhhh Жыл бұрын
As someone who has sold on both, the audience on C&B is different than BAT. BAT does well with older vintage cars, resto mods, outlaws, etc. C&B is mostly newer cars that are stock or lightly modified but may not all be full enthusiast models. The oldest cars I’ve seen were maybe 1980s land cruisers but it’s mainly newer vehicles.

A middleman, in which was a simple car buying process. This should make Porsches more expensive and a little more unachievable for the average guy that really loves cars. More like the luxury watch grey market. Shows that people are in it for the profitability that would be more evident in the future. All about the money...🚗
@teenchy Жыл бұрын
That didn't last very long. Did you just want a taste of a longhood, then flip it?
@Rennthusiast Жыл бұрын
I did want to experience a long hood but had no idea the car would do so well. I always just try to recoup what I have in a car…or at least get close. Many don’t believe this but I am in this hobby for the love of the cars, not as a business or profit making venture.
@allpointsorganized Жыл бұрын
Honestly, isn't it just about how much money you can make from the car? Come on.
@Rennthusiast Жыл бұрын
Sure. At the end of the video I discuss that very point without reservation. There’s no doubt that I want to maximize my chances of recouping my money and I feel like that’s a reasonable goal.
@allpointsorganized Жыл бұрын
I like the sophistication of your channel. It's just, Porsches are so much money. I'm an MGB, British car guy. So the differential in costs is massive between the two types of cars. Yet the fun quotient is almost identical. So I could not justify spending that kind of money on a Porsche versus another B roadster, a BGT V8 or an MGC. And these cars don't fetch anywhere near the cost of 60s 911's. I like the approachability of British car is easy and for the common everyday man. The vocabulary used to sell high-end cars obviously is directed towards the very wealthy. I think you're selling your '69 911 for well over $100,000, but I could be wrong as I couldn't find a price anywhere on the video?
@s.m.h.7480 Жыл бұрын
Bring a trailer. Is a good sellers site . I’ve sold a couple of cars there, so I’m not a professional, but it’s definitely not, NOT, a buyers site in my opinion For the simple reason that an auction, is an auction, and if you get more than one person that’s interested in the car , that drives the selling price up which is great for sellers. Not great if you are a buyer on a budget. Interesting scenario that you have going on here, giving your car to this other party to negotiate selling on BAT I’ve been writing this comment and not listening to the video, so I’m not sure how you guys are approaching this together But I will listen to the video it almost sounds as though you’ve sold the car to this guy and he’s going to sell it on bring a trailer and keep the money, but I’m not sure that’s what you’re doing Bottom line, to end this long comment, the air cooled Porsche market is still quite hot and a little crazy if you ask me You take very good care of your air, cooled Porsches, and so your car should do very well I am both an older school air, cool guy, but have also owned and enjoyed water cooled Porsches Porsche’s. of any kind, are just incredible sports cars
