the problem is more that hardly anyone wants to imitate him. it's a very skilled sort of banjo, but the percussive sound that results just ain't as popular as the scruggs or keith style, which are much more fluid. I personally like it, and it's a good skill to have.

@@cranque__7737 Agree, and in addition to unusual technique, Don's musical vocabulary also ranges pretty far outside of folk/country/bluegrass, informed by jazz, big band, swing and more.
