I played there at Fitzgerald’s often, between 95-2001, With the Joey Carmon Band. Great times. Reno today, is a sad reminder of what she used to be...

Good to see that this footage is available. This is how I would like to remember Reno. I grew up during this decade and recall visiting Reno at least once a year. We mostly stayed at Circus Circus when we were younger, eventually moving over to the Comstock. Close to the end of the decade we ended up staying at Ballys (was the MGM Grand before that). I think it is the Reno Grand Sierra now? Eddies Fabulous 50's (was originally the Mapes Money Tree) was across the road from the Riverboat. I recall early in the decade that the Riverboat Tower was a former casino known as the Onslow and I believe the Flamingo was originally the Sahara back in the 70's. Of course the 90's was beyond the glory days of both the Mapes and Riverside. Peppermill was around as was Atlantis, but I think the Atlantis was around mid-decade (1996-ish). Cal-Neva still had the 99 cent ham and eggs and I also recall the Nevada Club still lit up before Harrah's claimed the entire block. The separate east tower of Harrah's started out as a Hampton Inn. I do miss going through the prize lines in Fitzgerald's and Harold's Club. I still have some card decks and coffee mugs from both of the places. The midway at Circus Circus was always fun,though there could be some people rough around the edges lurking around the area. Eldorado, Sands Regency and the Sundowner were casinos we rarely visited, still sad to see the Sundowner not lit anymore. I sort of felt that Sundower received the shaft when Silver Legacy came to town in 1995. The Silver Legacy has always looked out of place to me, seems to me it has more of a Vegas feel. I was able to find another video here where they filmed the Holiday Inn at night, still to this day the only Holiday Inn I have seen lit up in the "casino" style.

Yes I totally remember.99 cent breakfasts at the Calneva-I would order 2 sunny side up eggs, sausage, hash browns and 2 slices of sourdough toast...was the coffee extra? Lol I’m not sure now it’s been awhile! Now the .99 cent breakfast is $5.99 I believe and you only get 1 slice of toast instead of 2!

I miss this Reno. This is the year that I moved here and was a delivery driver downtown. Lots of positive activity going on then. Last time I was downtown it was heartbreaking. So dirty.

Wow. It is amazing to compare 1998 with 2010. I was there last weekend and it seems as if half of that stuff is gone. I know Fitzgerald's shut down, for one thing. And a bunch of hotels whose names I cannot recall are no longer there. Sad.

Good old day's? Good old days of Reno peaked in the mid 80s. 90s all the way through the 2000s is was a dump. Mid town has actually made it more attractive.

I used to work right on skybridge at Silver Legacy. Right next to the Dome. Back in 98 I might have been running one of the bank booths when this was filmed.

Lived in Reno from 2007 to 2009.Fitzgerald's had just closed,Spark's Baldinis had closed. Cal Neva was open as was the SIlver Legacy but one of the maids who lived in my apt building said that their occupancy was only 60% No1 goes to harrahs' and main gamblers in town were all at Peppermill or Atlantis.When I 1st got2Reno buy ins 4 poker at Grand Sierra was 500, and when I left it was only40bucks.Sad.Sands Regency is still open.Comstock&Riverboat have been long gone

Mocha--Baldini's has never closed...The Baldwin family sold it (after Mr. Baldwin died) , and the new owners have sort of mucked the place up, but it's still there...

Used to be you had your choice of tour buses from Cali. Arrive, get your little coupon and enjoy it. Now? A lot of tour buses only go to Cali Indian casinos, unless you're part of a charter. Miss the good old days.

I like outskirts southwest or northwest reno and other parts BUT downtown is a complete hole full of drugs prostitutes hooking up to fourth street very drab full of old seedy motels. Enjoy sierra's/Pevine and Tahoe. Rarely go downtown unless I have to.
@mamacordella5 жыл бұрын
Well, first amendment, i give it to you; its true, downtown is not what it used to be. It was a big time first Class TOURIST town for gamblers & the family. Once upon a time. It was buzzing of excitement.!!! YES, they sucked the very life out of this sweet little city Now, you can't park anywhere downtown, meters EVERY where. " Hello Hollywood Hello" Show in the MGM destroyed by the IRS. Mapes Casino 9/11 ened. All the cute little casinos GONE. Nothing of value stays safe HERE, its all taken over by "Deep State". No culture allowed, just ZOMBIES, ready to kiss the NWO's feet.

Is Reno the only place in the US where prostitution is legal or is there any towns and cities besides Reno ?
