That was a fantastic read. You are an inspiration for those with wanderlust. If you dont mind me mentioning. You chronicle so much of your adventures but you rarely if ever tell of emotions you feel, doubts fears or vulnerabilities even fleetingly. Maybe you do this as a protection but at this stage of your journey and with so many people feeling they know you so well I feel it would be nice to express these things incl dare I say opinions and I know you need to be careful there. Anyway I look forward to more adventures with your channel. Best of luck.

I visited Reno in 1995, after some tiresome cycling at Lake Tahoe and camping in really spartan conditions. And then those unlimited $5 seafood buffets in Reno’s casinos 😄 Oh, those were the days.
@GabrielTravelerVideos7 ай бұрын
What time of year? In mid-June of 1995 I was at a Rainbow Gathering in Oregon and caught a ride with some people there to drive to another Rainbow Gathering in New Mexico. The van we were in broke down somewhere in northern California and we ended up hitchhiking into Nevada, through Reno and then on highway 50 heading east. Sounds like we could have almost crossed paths, depending on when you were in the area.

@@GabrielTravelerVideos I remember very well that I flew to California right after Jerry Garcia died (August 9, 1995). It was in the news all the time. So, my trip to Lake Tahoe, Nevada Stateline and Reno was around that time, probably till August 20 or so, when I had to move on to Santa Cruz. Backpacking, broken tent, MTB, campsites with bears roaming around and many-many nice people. That trip was very special.

I remember first hearing that Jerry had died. I was on a bus in Alaska going on a camping trip into Denali national park and the bus driver told us. After the gathering in New Mexico I went up to Alaska around the end of July or early August.

I remember winter of 1996, driving to the Grand Canyon from Bellevue, WA. We reached Reno around 2 PM, and were immediately drawn in. Apparently, there was a storm on I 80, so a lot of SF Bay Area Guests did not materialize. We got some incredible hotel deal and Ribs and Steak meals were almost free. At that point, I was a new import to the US, less than a year (from India), so it was a lot more exciting as it was my first time seeing anything like that. Next day we reached Las Vegas, and realized Vegas is on mega steroids as compared to Reno. Vegas still had Siegried and Roy, Treasure Island pirate battle, Flamingoes in Tropicana, Lions at MGM - but was a lot smaller in 1996 as compared to what it has become now.
