Very memorable episode! I was just talking about the other day. I remembered how the buyer tried to buy it before they were finished and then came back and was the one who ended up being the buyer in the end. I was so happy for her because she really had it in her heart to buy it. But mostly I recall this episode as an example sample of how to lay out furniture in a very small space. In this episode, I noticed that placement of the couch arm write against the casing around the front door means this means that as long as you provide enough space for people people to move about the room and the furniture is spread out enough to fill the space evenly, you can pretty much make any small space work as you need it too.

7:37 “It doesn’t really have a style.” Truer words were never spoken. Dark colors in a small house is not a winner. Odd materials, ugly staging, and questionable design choices (like not closing off the laundry, so you have to hear it in the kitchen, dining room, and living room) all combine to make this house a no-go for me.

"You'd think the garage would be a logical place for the laundry"... WHAT???? IN WHAT WORLD is the DETACHED garage a logical place for laundry????
@VioletJoy3 жыл бұрын
Maybe because it's an older house. It's very common to have the laundry area in the garage for those of us who don't have an indoor laundry room. The awkward thing with this house is that the garage is detached. But that's how it was back in the day.

@@VioletJoyidk it’s all depends on the state cause in my state even the houses built in the 50s had the laundry room inside the house mainly in the basement. I’ve notice most houses in California don’t have basements but my state it’s common to have basements.

@@happydays1336 Advertising statements like, “dynamic community for young adults,” that indicate a preference for younger people is a primary Example of a Warning Sign of Age Discrimination
@happydays13363 жыл бұрын
@@lumiere7216 I'm so glad you've replied. I've been trying to find your comment so I could respond. If this is the right episode I wanted to mention that the older man and woman are probably the parents of the younger gal and are buying a home for her and not for themselves so they're not being discriminated against. This is what we did for our disabled son. We went on home tours with him but he made the final decision about which house he wanted and we bought it for him. (A very small house.) A smart Realtor puts a clause of "first right of refusal" in the offer to protect a prospective buyer from being stuck paying more for a house than what his or her first offer was. If the seller raises the price of a home because there's a bidding war, the potential buyer can come up with the extra money to make a competitive bid or just say, "Forget about it" and look elsewhere. You're right about communities for young adults. These apartments are usually located near colleges and universities. Where I live there are a lot of communities that are only for seniors 55 and older so, I guess, you could say both communities are age discriminatory. In the U.S. it's against the law to discriminate when it comes to age. That said, I'm sure there are sneaky ways to get around it. I think it's wonderful that you're so concerned about those of us who are older. (I'm 68.) I told my husband I'd never, ever want to live in one of those senior communities because I love hearing children playing and laughing outside.
