Even though I just bought a used one, I appreciate the insights and agree with most of what you said. I was able to buy a 2023 repo unit 7x14x4 with 7k axles and telescopic hoist. It has 10 gauge floors and walls, but otherwise, seems very stout. It's an AMP trailer. Would love to buy my "dream" dump trailer - 7x16x3 with 1ft front height extension and 1ft "dog ears" in the back to easily put 2x12 wood sides on, 8k axles, hydraulic front jack, automatic tarp, spreader gate, but I could almost buy two of my 7x14s for the price of that one.

I agree. It makes no sense how just 2 more feet and a couple thousand pounds of capacity make the trailer double in cost.

I have that telescoptic 7x14x4 works great.

Any updated thoughts on gooseneck vs bumper pull now that you have a couple years of experience with both? I know I want a 16 ft with 3 ft sides, just can’t decide on hitch.

Great Video - THX! What level of driver's license do you need in Michigan with a 14k or 16k trailer? I have a class B in TX (dump trucks, box trucks, etc) - but not a class A (semi rigs). DOT regs seem a bit squirrelly/unclear when it comes to trailers.

its a combination of truck weight and trailer weight. 26,001 pounds or more needs a CDL combined weight (truck and trailer+load)
