Could you explain the physical connections. What and where to actually connect cables. I'm going to connect directly to my router. I don't have a computer
@rent2ownnz11 жыл бұрын
Sorry I must have missed this one! there could be a couple of issues. First you will need to disable DHCP on one device as this can cause conflicts. you will need to set the frequency to 20mHz (Default is 40, but most STD wifi 2.4Ghz devices only work in the 20mHz range. You may have to do some experimenting :)

My wireless router is a Ubiquiti Power APN. I am trying to set up a Pico M2 HP as extender. It will be wired to the router. As far as I can see this is the same setup as in your video. I have the Power APN set as "SOHO router" and the Pico as "Station" with WDS enabled. After having done the initial setup on a PC, I connected the Pico to the router via Cat5 cable. The wifi stopped working and I had to disconnect the Pico to get the wifi back on. Do you have any suggestions to troubleshoot this?

Ok the setting up is nice, how about a feature of saving a configuration? My colleague plugged in a wrong PoE adaptor and burns one of these Picostation 2. My question is had I have a backup of the dead Picostation 2 at hand. I would have been loading it up in minutes and have the network running again. I know you need to set the peers(mac addresses) pointing to each picostation, which is rather confusing when you need the network up. Documentation is the only thing? No easier way out? I am lazy
@carelstruycken11 жыл бұрын
Bridge mode and WDS did the trick! To recoup: I have one power APN on one side of the house hardwired to a picostation M2 on the outside of the other end of the house. The APN is set up as SOHO router, access point WDS and the Picostation is set up in Bridge mode, access point WDS. I had not tried Bridge mode, because this term is generally used when dealing with connecting two different protocols.

I'm confused.. I just want a "simple AP". Not a repeater or bridge. You are connecting to an existing AP/WiFi Router. That's not a stand alone AP. ??

A couple questions though - I'm looking at using these for our business where we will have up to 60 users accessing the network at one time. Do you think we should invest in 2 or 3 of these units and distribute access to the network over them? If so, what's the best way to set that up? Thanks again for the video.

Hi Westy Style. Great vid and thanks for the much needed help. Can u pls build on this further by recommending some UBNT software (such as UniFi Controller) to manage login sessions. Meaning that in publicly secured area, I want to be able to provide my customers with a login and password to the picostation AP for a predefined amount of time and also with a throttled speed. Would be great to hear from you at your earliest pls. Thx heaps

I HAVE FINALLY FOUND A PROPER HELP VID TO HELP ME. My folks currently have a picostation m2 as an access point down at their boathouse. They recently updated their internet from DSL to Wireless Internet (they live out in a rural area and are quite limited) and suddenly the picostation stopped working properly. When plugged back in, it would work for about 15-20 minutes but then cut the internet out EVERYWHERE (still get a wifi signal but no internet access). Quite bizarre. So tomorrow I am going to try your method and see if it works. Wish me luck.

Hi, Looking for some information and hope you can help...I want to setup a bridge so that I can connect a firewall (Watchguard T10) to a Spark 4G modem. As i guess you will know the spark modem is wifi only. I thought I may be able to use the Picostation as a Bridge station, talking over wi-wifi to the Spark modem, but before I rush down top PBTech thought it wise to ask for some advice! So my network will be: Internet Spark 4G modem Picostation - > < cat5 cable ->

Hi there wonder if you can help. I have three Pico Station M2's set up at home and they have been working perfectlysince installation. Yesterday our power company took us off line fir 5 hours and since we got power back, all three of them just show the first 2 green lights and I am unable to use them. They were all unplugged when the power went back on to avoid damage. I use them to send webcam images from dog kennels but nothing since yesterday. Any help much appreciated. Cheers Jim
@rent2ownnz10 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, Hmmm... not sure what has gone wrong there. I would log into each device and check your configs. Do you have a back up of the original config on each device? Go to your master device and confirm it still see the other devices. Confirm you have them on the same network and if that does not work. I would re configure from sctratch in stages as you did from when you set them up. Would like to know how you got on. Cheers - Westy!

Hey Westy, great vid again as always.One question: Do you know if Ubiquiti has specified anywhere any safety concerns about installing this too close to people? For example installing this in the corner of my room, maybe my desk or bed should be at least 2 meters from the device?Can't find any information on this at Ubiquiti. Perhaps you know or have a link? Thanks in advance!

try another wireless client device (Smart phone or Notebook etc) see if that is stable .... if it is .... you will need to have a look at the device that is dropping out ..... try reinstalling wireless adaptor drivers or put a wireless dongle on it. Also load a wireless analyser program or App on it and see what is going on ..... and then also check the logs on the Picostation .... if you have updated the firmware to unify ... (see my video here... kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHW7fI2Ojdp4jMU you may see lots of packet send and resends .... this will definitely indicate a driver or wireless adaptor device at fault.

Thank you! I have a question. You configured your PICO to "locked" on to your D-link WIRELESS router. Is the PICO still communicating with your main router via Ethernet cable? or is it now acting more like a wireless range extender? Please let me know. Thanks!
@rent2ownnz8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the questions: Correct wired to the Router ... turn D-link Wireless off. the reason being that the ISP (Internet Service Provider) Router does not have the Processing power to handle all of the tasks such as DHCP, NAT, ROUTING & throwing the massive load of wireless encapsulation on top of it all. that is why they are always reset after 2 - 3 heavy wireless load activities such as streaming from multiple sources simultaneously. The Ubiquity gear is designed for this purpose perfectly in my opinion. = Subscribe

@rent2ownnz9 жыл бұрын
Hi There.... .no it does not. It is simply an access point or Bridge. If you want that feature, you need to configure your router. Most of them have parental mode.... you find the MAc address of the device you wish to administrate and then add that into your router....

I strongly suggest you use SHIELDED cable (with grounded connectors) between the POE inserter and the Picostation. Ubiquity builds very good products, but they are static sensitive. Also, make sure that the POE inserter has a good ground.

How To - Westy Style! Basically you will need the 2 wireless Devices for a BRIDGE ..... and then you can add another wireless device into your switch .... or .... you may have another wireless router that you can connect your bridged end (end you cannot reach by cable) and you are good to go.... the thing to remember here is this.... you CANNOT use the wireless devices as BOTH a BRIDGE .... AND A WIRELESS ACCESS POINT - THIS IS A BIG POINT TO MAKE :)
