Telling your landlord your moving if you raise my rent, might be a good strategy. Depends on what kind of tenant you are. But likely they want you out so they can raise the rent more than 10-15%. Renters you know what kind of tenant your are.

I don't know why someone would sell their house and then rent an apartment unless you're about to die. Rental cost in most cases more than mortgages.
