Can't you just hear Julie Andrews thinking: "..damn, I wish I could sing again..." She really got shafted by that quack of a doctor. She was amazing.

we really lost a cultural asset the day julie lost her voice. like the theft of a masterpiece or burning of a library
@chooseyourpoison51052 жыл бұрын
She did sing again. She sang "Your Crowning Glory" in Princess Diaries 2. It was specifically written for her, to stay within one octave. Admittedly it was just a simple little ditty, but she did sing again.

Oh my God Julie Andrews is the definition of class.I can't get enough of her and the older she grows the more stunning she becomes.I'm sure that while watching this she thought that there are still people out there to pick up where she left off and defend the amazing world that is musical.Both of them are simply AMAZING!!!

Julie Andrews if full of class, and Kristin Chenoweth kicks a**!!!!! I have to admit, I get a bit too much joy out of the major differnce in the reactions between Julie to Kristin, and Barbra to Idina!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Julie looked like she enjoyed it the entire time, Barbra only looked like she was happy when it was over. LOL!!!!!! All the more proof, Kristin Chenoweth is better than Idina Menzel (& that the Tony's got it wrong)!!!!!!
@PraiseDog15 жыл бұрын
I am very proud that I have never watched one episode of American Idol. Kill your TV as I have, you will be happier, and you will find that you start to read a lot more books. Kristin is great, and yes, in comparison, all that the general public sucks in on TV is crap. I am a musician by hobby, my style is sort of neoclassical metal rock, even shred, which is not Mary Poppins. But I know what quality is, and what crap is. If that makes me a snob, I am content with it.
@Qermaq15 жыл бұрын
Probably not 4 octave range. If we accept her high E here is close to the top (at least the top usable) range, she'd need a bass E to have 4 octaves of range. More likely she can sing, say, E in four octaves, which is a three octave range. Quite impressive. Then again, I might be misinformed. I mean, she's great, but let's stop short of sainthood here! I can do 3 octave range, not with her tone and vocal perfection. And she's much prettier than I.
@Titaniacy14 жыл бұрын
If they ever do a revival of this, Kristin should DEFINITELY star! I also love the contrast between her singing voice and speaking voice! Hilariously adorable!
@hole199114 жыл бұрын
Um, 12345guitarplayer I agree with just about everything you said, love, with the exception of Kristen being 12. Who told you this because you have been greatly misinformed. You can look this up on Wikipedia or imdb if you believe me and I don't know how old she is here, but she's only two months away from being forty two. Once again, check it if you don't believe me.
@ivelosthewilltolive15 жыл бұрын
Well -- to be honest, maybe she loved it and maybe she didn't. We'll never know. Honorees at these things traditionally have to sit there with a frozen smile on their face the whole time, in case the camera catches them when they're not expecting it. She could actually be thinking "I wonder how long we'll have to wait for the valet parking"...
@brettfunimelb15 жыл бұрын
Kristin Chenowith is a great musical theatre talent and she has a wonderful vocal instrument but she overworks this song woefully. As a result, the whole thing comes across as labored and strained, and it only highlights how brilliant Julie Andrews was in making the original seem so effortless and unforced.
@LydzB2413 жыл бұрын
@SingingCatzzz I absolutely love kristin chenoweth, she is my idol and i sing all of her songs as they are so wonderful and as always she was fabulous singing this! It was such a shame that julie can't sing as powerful as she used to but she is still a sensation! I have much respect to them both too :)
@musicalfan1315 жыл бұрын
I don't know if doing it justice is quit the way to phrase it, but you are absolutely right. Kristen took it in a somewhat different direction from the classic arrangement, but boy did it work for her. I don't believe that you could ever actually compare the two, but they are both performed marvelously.
@vampirechunks15 жыл бұрын
Yeegads, is that Pavarotti sitting next to Julie Andrews? Hoo! Talk about performance anxiety-- singing a little "sugar" in front of two of the greatest performers ever. Yet here's Kristin, making it all look effortless. *WUBS* YOU ROCK THAT SUCKER, CHENOWETH! SING IT LIKE YOU OWN IT!!!!
@mattro100016 жыл бұрын
haha, ya, you're right...it is Pavarotti sitting next to her. And I'm sorry if I offend you, but i'm gonna correct you're sentence. "Is that Luciano Pavarotti in front of Julie Andrews???" (sorry for my english) Keep practicing your english, it's coming along really well! :)
