I stay in a basement and no I do not recommend. First they have to receive my mails and deliveries, Then the noise. The stamping and moving of chairs. The cold etc. My main tip ensure you get a basement where the people upstairs do not have kids but preferably don’t get a basement.

Ontario people and basements! I raise hand for una wey the do am. I visited a friend one time and she had lived in the GTA for 7 years in a basement. I spent 3 days visiting and I ran away lol. Limited sunlight, no fresh air, shared laundry. Nahhhh lol. Basement life in my opinion is okay if someone is SINGLE. I won't advise people with family and kids to live in a basement.

i live in a basement. I dont know about it being affordable. The cheapest basement in my area is $1300. The noise from landlord's kids gave me a headache everyday when we first arrived but eventually got used to it.
@WhizQueen3 жыл бұрын
If you were gonna rent an apartment in your area instead it’s likely going to be more than that amount. That noise is sooooo annoying. Especially feet stamping at 7am on a Saturday when I’m still in my sleep lol 😂

Lol..., These points were exactly the reasons we didn't want to get one., Noise, Privacy and oh..., the cold situation is a real thing. I have seen people try to water it down but for real, it is cold. Secondly, I am claustrophobic so that was another deal breaker. Thanks for these tips Bisola..., all undiluted truths and well needed.
@WhizQueen3 жыл бұрын
You’re right! People try to water it down cos they live in one. Truth be told if we all have the “money”, no one wants to live in a basement. It’s good for a start till you get comfortable enough. After a while it becomes unbearable.
@ghostpoopster3 жыл бұрын
You're making the right decision. It's a miserable existence. No one should live in one and people should stop renting them out.

I really think a basement apartment should be illegal if there is no soundproof infrastructure between the main floor and the basement. It was SOOO loud no matter what people do upstairs. Seriously, it was so loud felt like right next to you, it is damaging your mental health to deal with it every day. I AM GOING TO BUY MY OWN HOME ONE DAY!!!

Loved your video! ❤️ You touched on a lot of great points. The only one that you missed were pests, and I don’t mean like roaches (although they obviously exist) lol but like centipedes, silver fish (occasionally because the centipedes eat them), spiders, and ANTS! I moved out of my garden unit because of an ANT problem! Also, a small flooding issue… nothing too bad but has been worse for other people I’m sure. People viewing this post, some basement/garden apartments are better than others! Do your research ask very specific questions, and make requests also. Don’t feel overwhelmed either you do have the right to ask questions (no matter how small or big) as a prospective tenant!

My experience in every basement I’ve stayed in Canada has been nothing but nightmares. I mean really nightmares. The cons for me outweigh the pros. Thanks for sharing
