Can you rent a car without a credit card?

Booking in advance still doesn't guarantee you a specific vehicle type. Most rental companies will keep vehicles at a minimum so in theory your vehicle will not be sourced until a day or two before your booking. I've worked in the rental industry for 14 years. If there's one tip I would like to share it would be this one.... ‼ If you don't mind driving the smallest vehicles make sure you book the smallest available. The reason for this is because most of the time the smaller vehicles are not available but the rental company will have to honour your booking, therefore you get a FREE upgrade to the next size up. ‼ You're welcome 😁

There are risks with booking via third party websites. Be aware that many only include basic insurance this is why they appear cheaper. Buying their third party insurance is not always good. Many rental companies in Europe still demand you pay for their full insurance once you get there, others that accept your third party insurance will require you to pay for any and all damages plus a large deposit. It is then your responsibility to file a claim for reimbursement via your provider. Additionally, if you're traveling from North America don't assume you have insurance coverage via your credit card for car rentals in Europe. Call them ahead of booking, most don't cover you outside of North America.

Just a heads up! Airport rentals during peak times isn't cheaper my local enterprise branch for 3 day rental is cheaper then airport rates

Yes, you can definitely pick up a car in London and road trip to France! Remember, you'll be crossing from a country that drives on the left to one that drives on the right. Also, you'll need to take the Eurotunnel or a ferry to cross the Channel. Make sure your rental agreement allows cross-border travel and covers any additional insurance or equipment you might need.

I think that electric cars are still not way to go. Because charging stations are difficult to find in old europe

@@GregorBrown our rental company in Milan pretty much forced us to upgrade to an electric vehicle. Said they were out of gas vehicles because we showed up at half hour early. The electric vehicle broke down in Florence during the heat of the summer. It took 12 hours to get someone out to look at the vehicle then after they left, we had to wait for a tow truck then after they left, we had to take public transport to the airport to get a new vehicle, where they told us they were out of vehicles, which then required a trip to another location. Stick with a gas/diesel vehicle in my opinion!

@@snoringdog1676 yeah, Italy is not set up for electric cars, at least not if you're renting. sorry for that. I was recently offered an electric in Madrid, but I told them why I didn't want one, I needed more boot space and recharging around the country of Spain would be hard. Watch that recent video I made on the trip around Spain. I had a blast. Better luck on your next trip, at least you had a heck of an experience.

Renting a car between Zurich and Geneva sounds like a fantastic trip! I've had good experiences with major rental companies like Europcar and Hertz. Regarding SCDW (Super Collision Damage Waiver), it does offer peace of mind by reducing your liability for the rental car, but it's essential to read the terms to ensure it's not redundant with your travel insurance or credit card coverage. Hey I want to rent car in Switzerland. I am trying to book through QEEQ but they dont have clear info on security deposit. The excess says 2500CHF is that the security amount? Isn't this very high

The excess is the amount you’ll pay if you need to make a claim in the event of a crash, theft, vandalism etc. Usually, the better insurance you purchase through them, the lower this excess, and the same goes for any security deposit.
