Loved the video. We rented a model Y last weekend in Philadelphia. Kudos for the great voice over work!

This should have been two videos. 1) how to use/drive a Tesla 2) Hertz rental experience. All Tesla owners only want to know the experience of renting a Tesla, not how to drive a Tesla - does the app work, how to charge if you are staying at a place with NEMA 14-50 access, how does Hertz pass on the charge of Supercharging, is a charging cable included....

One note about using your credit card as “primary coverage”. Not all credit cards cover teslas. Especially Chase Sapphire Preferred which excludes them since they are “exotic”. The higher end cards like the Chase reserve and capital one venture x offers primarily coverage up to $75k. Good luck renting, it’s fun!

Thanks for sharing! We fly into MCO once or twice a year, and this time we’re definitely renting a Tesla. Was going to use Turo until I noticed the HUGE price difference with Hertz. ($430-$530 with Hertz vs $600+ on Turo with limited miles, no extended range options, etc)

The hertz near me in Louisiana is only $60 for a model 3 per day $70 for model Y
@akamikey1125 Жыл бұрын
How much did you pay for charging it ? Because I’m renting a model 3 in Miami to drive up to Orlando from hertz
@WhodatTravel Жыл бұрын
It really depends on where you charge. Tesla's supercharger seemed to be cheaper than the charge point. For like half a charge on charge point it was close to 20 dollars. For the same amount from Tesla was half of that.

I'm renting a Tesla Model Y in Denver from Hertz for an upcoming ski trip. I'm very curious about the experience. I already own a red Model Y at home, so I'm very familiar with how they work.

Do those back seats fold down to access rear trunk?

Yes the Model 3 seats fold down.

Now correct me if im wrong never drove a tesla but isnt the one pedal driving and regen braking different? You can turn off one pedal driving but regen braking still only happens when you break normally no?
@WhodatTravel Жыл бұрын
You can set different levels of regen breaking to my knowledge but it is not just when you hit the brakes is when you take your foot off the accelerator

I own a M3P and recently rented a Y form Hertz in Tampa. Really nice car and i think i might like more than my 3.
@JasonTaylor-po5xc Жыл бұрын
I test drove both and decided that I preferred the higher profile of the Y - much easier getting in and out than a Model 3. It's also more practical with very abundant room for storage. The main issue is simply the price.
@joshcarlson93522 жыл бұрын
You got a bargain on that, about 3-4 times that now in Orlando.

How much was the security deposit they required at the pickup???
@WhodatTravel2 жыл бұрын
I don't recall it being any more than the standard security deposit that they normally have a hold on your credit card with

Two weeks ago, I rented an orange-red Mustang GT convertible, driving to L.A. from Vegas. Of course, I was driving with the top down in 100-degree summer heat, it's sweet right? Not so fast, it starts to rain in the middle of the desert..air dry...LOL. Next week, I have a Hertz reservation for a Tesla Model Y (long range) for the Fresco trip from Vegas. I am a first-time EC/ Tesla driver. Any advice to watch out for a long-range trip?
@WhodatTravel2 жыл бұрын
My biggest advice was make sure that it is charged when you get it. Also they will normally only charge to 80% unless you change it in the system

@@WhodatTravel do we need the app to charge it ?! Just rented one !!
@WhodatTravel2 жыл бұрын
so sorry, just saw your comment. You don't need the Tesla app, I used the charge point app.

@@WhodatTravel oh discovered we don't need any app. Just plug in a supercharger. Whew!

I'm curious if anyone knows. Let's say you want to rent a Tesla for a day. It says $101 per day, but when you get to check out it shows $400. What makes up that extra $300? And is that a deposit or do you actually have to pay that $400 for the one day rental
@WhodatTravel Жыл бұрын
No, that is actually just the deposit. That will fall off in a few days after your rental.

The breaking can be much more jerky with the regenerative breaking. It's something to get used to or you can decrease it

I can see where waiting to charge, finding a charger and range anxiety would make road trips far less enjoyable.
