We've spent nearly two years renting out our spare room, master bedroom and a bell tent on Airbnb - and we have learned a lot along the way!
When most people think of hosting on Airbnb, they will probably think of renting entire houses, or flats, and that they won't have anything to offer on the platform if they only own a primary residence. This is something we used to think as well!
But the reality is: there are many people who are more than happy to rent a singular room on Airbnb. Making this the perfect secondary income for homeowners who have extra, unused space that would otherwise be sitting empty.
In today's video, we talk about how we got started on Airbnb, why we love hosting on the platform, some real life insights into our experience hosting (spilling the tea on some rude guests) and we offer 3 tips on things you should consider before listing your space on the platform!
Within weeks of hosting on the Airbnb platform, we were able to secure Superhost status - a status that we have been very proud to be holding on to. This makes me feel much better about our plan. We live way out in God's country plus in ag country as well, and we worry no one will want to come this far. It's 35ish min from town and is on a dirt gravel county road. We have 360° spectacular views, and close to Clearwater River, fishing, hiking, kinda close to a large very popular reservoir, 3 private bedrooms, with 2 bathrooms (we have our own). It's more of a homestead life, with chickens garden, etc.) It makes me hopeful we will be able to rent the homes.

Do you give a key to yr front door or have a lockbox?

We only rent out when we are on the property, and always make sure we greet our guests personally when they arrive so we can answer any questions and show them to their room. With that said, we know people who happily use a lockbox!
