Yeah it's kinda obvious with the Frontiers-esque QTE cutscenes showing badass attacks. It looks like Shadow will essentially become a "3rd" playstyle for the game, we have Classic 2D, Boost Modern 3D, and now Frontiers. I could see the Chaos Spears being a "skill tree" thing.

I've gotta admit, the part that Charriii thought is Westopolis kinda looks like, almost a blend of Westopolis and Radical Highway, because there weren't GUN robots in Westopolis to my recollection, and the like, road in the sky part looks like the aesthetic for Radical Highway, but the rest of it evokes Westopolis too, but I'm not sure if that's the whole thing or just the Black Arms Red Sky in the background making it look like that or not. Also I hope we get more bosses than Biolizard, he's one of my favourites, but Shadow's had some sick boss fights over the years. Like, imagine if we got a Shadow v Sonic fight from Shadow's perspective? Or Metal Madness? Or any of the Shadow the Hedgehog bosses? My theory is that Black Doom is revived thanks to Time Eater accidentally and is taking advantage of the situation to have revenge against Shadow, or he would convince him again since this is different Shadow, the Sonic Adventure 2 version that was before he had amnesia unlike in the Shadow Game. We are shown examples in Shadow Game that he is capable of using memories or psychic powers to show events in the past to shadow, so maybe it's either Black Doom controlling time or it's a perspective thing in Shadow's head.

You can definitely tell that SEGA are giving this game the Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury treatment. Re-Release the main game with improvements and also include a completely separated side game. Though this one’s a bit doozy. Not to say that it can’t work, but the thing is Sonic Generations was already just about perfect, Mario 3D World was good but definitely had flaws that the Switch Port improved thanks to updates to the gameplay and little things, and the Bowser’s Fury game combined multiple aspects of 3D Mario to make the most fun side story. Sonic X Shadow Generations looks to follow that same thing, and it definitely helped they picked a fantastic game to re-release. Though considering how the game is technically already playable on current Xbox One systems due to backwards compatibility and how it was one of the games updated to run and look AMAZINGLY on them, it’s seems kinda overdoing it and just asks the question, “what more could they do to make it better?” Not to mention the fact how, JUST LIKE THE 3D WORLD + BOWSER’S FURY ANNOUNCEMENT, they haven’t really shown any improvements or updates to the main game in this reveal and just made it all about the side mode. Though we should definitely have luck with this, this game was a Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 Game so there’s no goddamn way this shouldn’t work well on Switch, anyone remember Sonic Colors Ultimate glitches? And like Bowser’s Fury, the Shadow mode definitely looks to be very interesting, and considering how this is happening after Sonic Frontiers and Superstars, SEGA definitely have a good idea on the direction for Sonic’s future:) It just STINGS that we have to wait until Fall this year.

Heres my fickled thoughts Mabye the reason why the tine eater exists is because black doom decided to do something wacky, and created the time eater and went "ey, go kill em" and it attempted to only to get caught by eggman several years later after colors and so black dooms ghost is like "ya know what, screw that ima resurect myself while that thing is still alive" and did come back to life.... but as an enormously large staryu, so now shadow witnesses sonic and co get attacked by the time eater on sonics birthday and inevitably goes tow to toe with the time eater, probably learns its somehow related to black doom and chases after him throughout the timeline to occasionally run into sonic suspecting it was sonic fault this all happened

Well you have to remember Black Doom has mind manipulation powers. In shadow the Hedgehog he created illusions using Shadow's memories. He may not have as much control over shadow anymore but he would still have some kind of connection. I think its a more wild version of when Doom showed Shadow the scene from the Ark.

I was thinking that instead just Shadow, every rival you fight on the game had their mini-story that you unlock after you beat them Like Metal Sonic had to go through classic stages (Maybe from CD, Mania and Superstars) and destroy other Metal incarnations (like Robo Sonic, Mecha Sonic and the Silver Sonic from Adventure) For Shadow, the time rifts brings back Doom's Eye (that curiously on a Twitter Takeover Shadow said that he was still alive), and Shadow hunt him on some of his past stages (Like SA2, STH and S06) and fight some of his past bosses (Like Biolizard and Black Doom) And for Silver, being a time traveler, the time Rifts brings back Mephiles and Silver go on some stages from future games (like Lost World and Forces) and fights some enemies (like some of the Deadly Six, Infinite and Mephiles)

So here’s what I’ve noticed about Sonic X Shadow Generations. For Generations. The game remains mostly the same. But the textures are higher quality, the colors have been saturated a little more to be more vibrant, it runs at 60FPS and from what the game’s synopsis said, we are getting extra content in Generations. Hopefully it’s good. The Shadow campaign is interesting. The story is mostly unknown but we know Black Doom is back and he has Shadow facing his painful memories from his past. The gameplay and level design is what intrigues me the most though. It seems like Shadow is gonna play like he did in Forces but has the slight homing attack delay and QTE Boss Finishers from Frontiers. His homing attack also has a Chaos Control effect which is cool. And he also has the Chaos Spear. Wonder what other moves he’ll have. The level design. There is some automation but not as much as Forces had. And looking at Final Rush and the Radical Highway/Westopolis like stage, there are multiple pathways. There are less of them here than in Generations but it seems that there are at least one to two multiple pathways per stage. We’ll have to wait and see for the next time Sega shows more of this. But at the moment, I’m genuinely really excited.

Something Charri pointed out is that it appears part of Radical Highway is bleeding into Westopolis. In the original game, Tails did say that the more the Eggmen messed with time, the more damage would be caused to the world. Guess we may be seeing that?

You know im really happy that they chose to acknowledge shadow the hedgehog (videogame). Its definitly flawed but i think it had a lot of interesring ideas so seeing it get some love like this is great

For some people who want context about the remasters of Sonic games, this is basically a fresh start for people who aren’t familiar with the sonic franchise… so please be at ease in the comments, saying that this is a bad idea and such… just see this as an open door opportunity for people who never played a sonic game 😌.
