From a 55 year Florida resident and builder. The rough texture stucco really holds the dirt and moisture. Especially on the north facing side. Pressure cleaning every two to three years does wonders to get the dirt out of the crevices and bring back the new look. Helps also to keeps the mold & mildew away, paint looking good, and stucco from deteriorating. Trimming back shrubs from touching the house is a maintenance must! Also suggest keeping shrubs from blocking or up to high in widow areas. These areas will dry slower and thus the moisture will help deterioration and window leaks will be in your future. The small stucco cracks like you had are very normal. Beautiful home!. Quality workmanship is severely lacking in Florida. Not many good painters around Florida like you had. Great fun and entertaining video as always.

Your really honest and informative videoblog is the best! My wife and I started watching them last week ( starting at episode 1) and they have become a must-watch event each evening. The drive around the Villages and the walking the neighbourhood at 9:15pm were great. I loved the breakdown of the monthly expenses and the repainting your house video was awesome. What a fantastic place you have. We will continue to watch and maybe when this Covid thing settles down we may come for one of the trial rentals to see what it’s like in person. All the best. Thanks, Pete and Pam.

Lovely color on your home. It is soft, muted, and easy on the eyes. Your landscaping adds elegance and I love the palm trees in front of your home. Danny and his workers did a great job. It is a pleasure listening to your videos and the helpful advice to anyone that is thinking of buying and moving to the Villages. Linda is lovely and I love her natural hair style, it suits her young and happy personality. (This coming from a retired cosmetologist.) Jerry, you missed your calling. I am located in southern Michigan and just wrote a check for $3,000 to have our cedar trim painted. We have a two story home and this was the lowest bid we received. The painter was the brother of well known exterior painter in our area. He mentioned that if his brother painted the home, he would have charged more than double what he was charging. One bid we received was well over $6,500 for THE TRIM only. I will be reading the comments on this video as I am interested in what others have paid to have their house painted. We didn’t even pay for the pressure washing as you did in this video. We reviewed 10 contractors during our 2 year vetting process (2020/2021) What a racket. The no show contractors in this area blows my mind. My husband was in a car accident, so there was no way he would be able to paint our trim.

------------------ hello pattyporkchop ..... if you were a cedar board ... trim , ( that's the way I like my pork chops extra thin a lil thicker than bacon) you wouldn't want or need to be "pressure washed" as a matter of fact you wouldn't want a brand new coat of paint ..... your most fervent wish would want to be protected..... right ....not paint but stain it has properties that are considerably more compatible w/ the woods nature ... woods natural oils are being held captive by the paint so a struggle ensues... hey Jerry n Linda but once cedar is painted its commited to it.... for better or worse .... next go around consider replacing trim w/composite material

Love the color of your home. You can see how the paint has faded, but it didn’t look bad. Our home is 30 yrs old and we’ve replaced most windows, we have 6 left (the house had 23), we’ve done the roof and painted the exterior three weeks ago. We’ve been remolding since 2012. Boy what a chore it is to remodel 🧐. It’s definitely not an easy task painting a home. Danny did a great job! TFS and great video. 🌼✨

I live in Northern Arizona and we get our TV stations from Phoenix. Phoenix is extremely hot and dry. And they also have monsoons and sand storms. I notice commercials for "Rhino Shield" paint with a 25 yrs GUARANTEE. It is a kinda of ceramic coating paint....looks the same. If this can take 25 years of Phoenix...I am sure it could take it in Florida. Do you have that kind of an option? Have you ever heard of it? Sounds like it would be good for Florida.

What a timely and informative video. We live in Georgia and are getting ready to have our three story Hardi-plank sided house painted within the next few years. The house is a khaki color and was built in 2004. It has noticeably faded. I’m very nervous about getting quotes. Thanks for providing this valuable information!
@singsongcindy88653 жыл бұрын
Hi Pam, We painted our three story Hardiplank (3 sides) and brick fronted home in georgia before selling it last year. SW duration paint, 2 coats. The cheapest estimate was $7000. We got four bids, and they went from $7000 -$11,000 with same prep, paint, etc House had about a 2500 sq ft footprint on the main floor, walkout basement and second story. Painting is not cheap. Good PAINT is not cheap!

I live in a stucco house in Alabama on a lake so the moisture really messes with everything. We put the color in the stucco so it NEVER needs to be painted. It's been 14 years and still looks the same. It does have to be washed because this lake makes mould grow on everything.
@pattylaverde3 жыл бұрын
My friend owns a stucco company in Minnesota and he has always said you should not paint stucco. They add the color to the stucco. He said painting over it doesn't allow the stucco to breathe. Not sure if it's different in Florida or not.
@singsongcindy88653 жыл бұрын
@@pattylaverde I have wondered about that since we moved here. I am in a 15 year old stucco home. It has no mold or moisture issues. It has obviously been painted since day one as have all my friends homes. It must not be an issue, or the type and manner of doing stucco in florida is appropriate for our hot muggy weather? Even coastal homes and huge coastal multi family buildings are painted stucco here.

@JERRYANDLINDA3 жыл бұрын
I don't think it is that anyone loves to spend money. It is more of a taking pride in where you live and wanting your things to last. If you don't take care of things, they tend to deteriorate.

Your "mansion" looks awesome. Wish I could afford a nice home like yours. You do a great job of keeping it look beautiful. Upkeep is always an expense that's not a happy thing, but it keeps your value of your home attractive at any age. Great video !!!! Your contractor was very polite and efficient --- nice job!!!! Had spider and larger cracks in my stucco home. Found a guy to repair. He was convinced the stucco job on the house was not done well. He used a nylon mat and repair paint/stucco done with a trowel. The color is in the final product and should not fade away. Home in seGA so we have close to same environment. Mold/mildew can stain which will not come off. It should last much longer than 5-10 years. Shoddy building is your biggest problem!

1500.00 is very reasonable. I live in Michigan and last month had 3 estimates between 5,000 and 6,200. Our house is 1800 sq ft tri level 1/2 brick, 1/2 wood and stucco It had been 8 years last painted.All painters used Sherwin Williams Duration. We took the 5500.00 Bid. Had to call 6 painters to get 3 to come out. Your fellow looks like he does a very professional job. Keep him on speed dial.
