I wonder who coined the phrase ‘bird cage’. I grew up in Miami where these were common in homes with pools. In my 30 years in South Florida I never heard them referred to as bird cages. They were always called screened in porches.

I had a terrible history teacher, she sat behind her desk, talked in a monotone voice and once said, she only taught to have the summers off, I hated history class. Now I love it. Little story: About 18 years ago we lived in Davis, California. At that time Davis boasted a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle dealership. I bought one of their street legal NEVs (a sort of glorified golf cart with a maximum speed of about 30 mph). I parked the NEV under the carport and plugged it into our (manufactured home) electric service to recharge. For more than a year that NEV accomplished all our around town chores, including once transporting a bag of cement and other building materials. Since the NEV required no smog emission certification (don't know how they could plug in the monitor anyway) some registration work got a little confused. I notice that instead of a regular license plate, DMV issued me a smaller plate designed for vehicles designated as "motorcycles". One day, driving around town I looked in the rear view mirror and observed that I was being pulled over by a city motorcycle cop. After he checked my license and registration, the tall young man began to write me out a ticket for not wearing my seat belt. To which I amiably responded. "I mean no disrespect, officer... " "No. It is quite alright" he assured me with an amiable smile (after all, this was a college town) "You may notice from my registration and license plate that this vehicle is technically not categorized as an automobile, but a motorcycle." "Okay," he responded without missing a beat, "then where is your helmet?" I had to admit he had me there.

Just an idea--When the screen is in use, maybe place a "reminder" of some sort, maybe a piece of painters tape (won't mark) across the doorway, preferably colourful. Sometimes we think we'll remember things like this; often we don't! Have a good week!

We are here on a ‘lifestle visit’ and we are loving cruising around on the golf cart. Roadways are very clearly marked so we’re doing fine so far. We’ve been here for 5 days. We’re in love and having the time of our lives! Believe! Thanks you guys for telling us about the Villages! We saw the Hooligans the other night and now we know why you rave about them. The entertainment here is awesome!! Food at the restaurants is superb! And everyone we’ve met is so friendly! People talk to each other here 😀 Thank you Jerry & Linda🥰. Oh, and by the way, we are going to visit Donut King while we’re here. I’ve been dreaming about it since watching your video about the place 😋

We love our plantation shutters too. We have a birdcage and a pool in our interior lot (in Tampa). It would be lovely to have a home with a view of a pond like our neighbors across the street ... but unfortunately for us, we didn't see any of those when we were doing our home search. We adopted two kittens after we moved here and they LOVE being outside in the birdcage. They spend hours outside every day. We leave the sliding door cracked open so they can get in and out ... and so we can hear if they fall into the pool--which has happened 4 times. We run out to help, but they swim over to the stairs and climb out on their own.

Thank you again! We have our windows open as much as possible. After being “closed in” so much of the time up north we don’t like being closed in here. As far as classes go, you might want to do a video on the Enrichment Academy. They do allow the public...non-villagers to join in. We have been teaching a dance class for the Academy for three years and have never had anyone outside of TV take our class...but it is an option. Thanks again!

When you open the screen door put a piece of painters tape on the screen (mid door)…that way if it rolls up won’t mess up the screen or the mechanism..makes the screen visible….you can doo the same on the rear slider when company comes over….I used to have a mobile screen repair business and made a ton of money on family and friends who walked through door screens because they didn’t or couldn’t see them….this was my tip for the home owners to avoid repeat business…

Hi Jerry & Linda, I watch your shows every week and enjoy them and Gizmo is a puppy plus segment. When we have moved I always pack each box, number it, and record the contents in a composition book. We had some overflow items that we couldn’t part with in our biggest move and rented a nearby storage unit. It came in handy when I needed my large turkey platter at Thanksgiving. I asked my husband to go to the storage unit and get box #35 (perhaps), we had 104 boxes and it’s a great system. My sister says that I’m the most organized person she has ever known. And I agree.☺️

@Dale Divine We don't shovel snow, HOA does it. We just don't like the heat & humidity. Yes it gets into the high 80's and occasionally the low 90's here but we pick and choose when we go out. My hubby lived in FLA as a kid & hated it . I have been once & that was enough for me, could never get accustomed to living there. Won't even visit friends that live in the Villages, been invited many times.

Another great video guys! I especially liked how you answered the question regarding how to know not to go out onto the highway by making a video clip of the roads and signs! IMHO, those signs are a bit inconspicuous. Assuming The Villages had those signs made up, they might do better to make them more noticeable (ie. bigger or a different color). I can see how easy it would be to miss one and wind up where you don’t want to be 😂😂😂
