Hi, I had success replacing the broken spring with one salvaged from a ballpoint pen. The right spring would be slightly stronger but it works! Instructive video, thanks.

I have a sargent door lock set. the Key lock spins. Do you repair?

Sorry, I only do my own repairs. Take it apart and look into it. You can probably figure it out. My approach is that it’s already broken, so if I can’t figure out how to fix it, I’m no worse off for trying. Good luck and let me know how it goes!

How big does the spring need to be?

Sorry May. I really don’t remember and it was in my daughters house about 5 hrs away or I’d look. I wold guess about 1-1 1/2” and and 1/4” diameter. I just went to the hardware store and bought a few different ones. You can also get a small variety pack of springs on Amazon pretty cheaply. Just start testing different sizes until you get on to work. Good luck! Sorry again that I can’t be of more specific help.
