LOL, I fixed my 70's vintage Frigidaire's defrosting system a number of years ago - this video brought back memories. The funniest thing is that you said "General Motors", and my fridge was built when Fridigaire *was* a division of General Motors :)

Thanks, bro! I will do this repair on my old GE fridge in a few weeks when it gets colder here in Northern California. I can set the food outside while I do this. I reckon after watching your vid and a couple of others, I can knock this out in less than an hour. Thanks again for your vid and the link to Amazon. Very helpful!

Great video, I replaced my ice maker once, it's a side by side so I didn't have much elbow room. I used to buy appliance parts locally but they charge list price and act like they're giving up there first born. It's great to have the internet to get parts, sometimes much cheaper. At least with the freezer on top it' s at a good working height. Thanks

Bought a GE fridge couple months ago. Freezer fan has been loud since day 1. The fan motor seems to have excessive play up and down. Like it's not supported right so it sags, and vibration in the motor bracket is the culprit. I will try to see.if I can tighten the support bracket or maybe add some foam double sided tape between the motor and bracket for cushion. If that doesnt work I have a new motor and 2 motor grommets on the way.

Thanks Reg!! You can tell I don't pay to have work done too often!! It's not that I don't want to pay someone for their services but I had a roof put on once and the work was horrendous, they only used 2 nails per shingle instead of 3 and they started blowing off in 2 days!! Then recently I had a new Heater/AC installed and I don't even want to get into that it was so screwed up!!☺

The box had correct part number on it but don't fit smh. UPDATE: I ordered the wrong motor. There is a similar looking motor on the bottom of the fridge. I finally got the right one and got it in no problem. fridge fixed. thanks for your video.

The big pita is getting all the stuff out of of the box. Been there. Wait till you have to replace the defrost timer. The freezer is all frozen up. A lot of labor for an $8.00 part, Amazon and you tube are your friends. A side by side is a colossal pain. That’s when my son came in and asked “What’s for dinner Jeffrey?” He was 17, he’ll be 41 in two days. Funny the stuff you remember, and forget!

Ah modern motors, just enough lubrication on the bearings to last the warranty, then after that, they just eat the bearings up, because it's "cost effective", aka profiteering from spares or entirely new fridges... :P

Look at that cheap plastic fan GE has been putting in their refrigerators. I have had to replace the fan just like that one that is in my GE refrigerator almost twice a year. The GE of today is not built like the GE of the 80’s. I will rever buy another GE product again. I really regret getting rid of my old Hotpoint fridge.
