Repair Pancake Air Compressor

This is a Central Pneumatic®- Item#61615 3 gal. 1/3 HP 100 PSI Oil-Free Pancake Air Compressor from harbor freight, ran great for over a year then stopped in the middle of a project, after looking it over all it needed was a rectifier, could not find parts list for Unit so I found one that would work on amazon, my camera work on this project could have been a bit better I hope you get the idea on how to repair it.

Your a lifesaver, my TNT pancake compressor was doing the same thing your compressor was doing... I ordered Rectifier and changed it, and it started right up and working fine once again.... Thank you again for making this video, was much needed help.....

Thank you for making this video! My compressor #60637 looks exactly like yours, inside and out, and it crapped out the same way. I just bought the KBPC5010 Bridge Rectifier and will be repairing my compressor too! Never would have known this was the problem until I found your video! Thank you again for making this video! It worked perfectly! I'm very impressed with your video work and my soldering work LOL! I did burn out the pressure switch and AC switch when I was bypassing stuff to get it to work before finding out the KBPC5010 was the problem. Just a little more work and I'll have equaled the money spent on this one instead of just buying a new air compressor! Life lessons are so much fun! Thanks again!

Thank you for this video. I have the same problem and would immediately blow the hard to find 3 amp fuse on mine. If anyone sees this I was able to order the kbpc608 bridge rectifier from amazon (10 pack for about 4 bucks). Google the part number from yours for an exact match. I found the short 3 amp fuse at Home Depot or Menards on the shelf also. FYI-these parts may depend on which version of this compressor you have.

First I'm impressed that you are replying to your comments. 👍👍💕 Next thank you for the video well done. 💯 Last if you replied to this I'd like to ask you a question about my pancake compressor using the same motor but has a rubber hose for the airline instead of what looks like the brake line they use to transport the air from the compressor into the gauges. I took the hose off the far side and it's still blowing air but none is getting into my tank the motor is too loud to hear a hiss if it's escaping anywhere and I've tried soapy water everywhere I dare to. I'm reaching out to you KZbin post producers because I'm almost to the point of just taking the little compressor off of the tank mounting it to a board making it enclosure splicing my 25 ft rubber hose onto it and throwing away the tank probably keep the gauges or maybe incorporate the gauges but making it smaller after all I only got it to air up my town car's tires when they go a little low in the winter time I could use the space anyway. Nice job!!!! but Just not clear about the wire connection!!! Can you show each wire where it came from and where it goes? I do not have a RED wire that goes to the rectifier!! my system is the same as yours. it took me a while and finally, I figured out the wires connections. I can share the diagram of the wires connections.

Any thoughts on being able to service this model when it takes longer and longer to get to the top pressure? It's the little compressor box that's the issue I am sure. Are parts available? Not feasible to open that up to service it?

problem with stuff from harbor freight is that good deals but no support and they discontinue stuff all the time.

Hey Ron, is that tube from the head to the tank 6mm? my compressors tube broke at the nut connection from the head and I am trying to find the right size feral. any help would be appreciated.

Hi Ron. Trying to fix the same exact model I have, don't want to buy a new one since I seldom use this compressor, then I used it just fine on building a chicken coop, the next few days it won't start. Same problem as in your video. I don't have a voltmeter to check if the rectifier is good or not but just replaced it anyway since it has the exact symptom you demoed on the video. Replaced it with 3 rectifiers thought maybe 2 were bad. But 3 is a charm supposedly... didn't work. I checked the switch by connecting the wires directly to no avail. Do you have an idea what the problem could be? Thank you.

Without a multimeter it will be hard to diagnose the problem, could be the Cord /plug/switch/maybe the motor, that unit is a 12v DC motor you could try a 12v dc power supply to test the motor if you have one.

Hi Ron so question mine is a bit different, so i have the 2 wire ac gojng into the old rectifier, then the switch 2 wires going into the rectifier, then the pump wires. So how do i wure this with the new rectifier? Thxs Mike

@@channelron3593 hi Ron the video you have doesn't address my harbor freight pancake compressor. Mine has,3 set of wires. 2 coming from ac, two that comes from the switch, two from,the pump.

I got the same one just other version. Mine was running today and made a popping noise but kept running. Not building up pressure. Any ideas?

Question- I'm having the exact same problem, same make, but model #95275, the components are identical as far as I can see ...put the multimeter on the top 2 connections on the existing rectifier and there was continuity, but I imagine I would I need to check all 4 terminals (terminals covered with yellow foam insulation) or could something else be the problem? rather fix it than buy a new one. Any thoughts would be appreciated, Thank you.

Yes make sure you have them disconnected, if you are getting continuity then more then likely it is shorted.

Also, my rectifier is on a board, do I need to remove it from the board to check it? What if I check it when it's connected to the board, and find there's no continuity between positive and negative?

Mine will not build up any air pressure in the tank and it's new but the store is ou of county

Sounds like the pump its self maybe bad? or the presser release valve is stuck open?

my seal went bad that's around piston...any idea where I can get another. same internal but has hotdog tank.
