I just purchased a mint 1972 6R-72D Johnson 50th Anniversary. It will not run. I did a little searching and came across "T-Mikes" Vintage Outboard Restoration. I found Mike's post to be full of great information and simple to follow. Mike knows his stuff and explains what he is doing very well. I would like to say thanks for sharing your wealth of information. Watching his post I hope to have my 1972 6hp running soon. Thanks Mike

I've noticed that sometimes the spark plug wire has a bad connection where it goes into the coil, if so the spark plug wire can be cut back 1/2 inch and reinserted back into the coil. Great show. Cheers from Jacksonville Florida 🌞

make sure you set the cam follow to open exactly as the mark on the throttle came comes in its center. if the carb throttle plate is CLOSED completely, these are designed to shut off as they dont have a stop button so no low speed butterfly calibration. cyl head temp is taken at the TOP of the head 125-152 degrees at 900 rpm FYI.

When you run your motors they all seem to be idling a little too fast. Won't they idle down and stay running?

I am checking the coils just like in the video however I am getting readings of 10k ohms for the secondary windings on both coils not 3k ohms like Mike. Is that good or bad? Thanks in advance and keep up the great videos!
