Any advice on removing old monokote cove. Bought any old plane from someone. It has been in a garage in the hot Louisiana heat for years. The clear coating was falling off the monokote. Used a heat gun. Removed a lot of it. Went over it with packing tape heat. Removed a little more. Now I'm left with the orange cover adhesive in spots. If I use acetone it just smears. I'm going to cover it in the same color. Do I need to remove the rest. If so, any suggestions? Thanks for any advice you can provide.

If it's the same color, you don't have to remove all of it. To help the new covering stick because of old covering left, you can use Cover Grip covering adhesive. Here's a link to it if you would like to check it out: alnk.to/2jMkqWR Thanks for the question and for watching!!!

Thanks for the video good info, I am somewhat new to RC Planes and have a question. I purchased a tower hobbies trainer Rc plane and have been working on putting together. I was just about finished when I realized the servo centered under the wing I did not put the brass and rubber grommets in the 4 holes. I tried to take the screws back out and ended up stripping the screws, then tried using a screw extractor when I applied pressure to the screws I snapped the wing in half and the small piece of wood that was glued in the center between wings. I then was going to make a new piece of wood to go in between by cutting in front of the old piece and re-glue it. I don’t think this will work and end up making more of a mess with the wing. The piece of wood originally had a slot cut to slide into both sides of wing, I’m not going to be able to do that with the new replacement wood. I never did monocote before so I’m thinking I should cut open the area where damage is glue wings back together with area open I can use clamps for a good fit. I hope I gave enough detail in what I’m doing what is your opinion on this project. Thank you

Sorry, don't know how I didn't see you message until now?? I imagine you have already repaired or replaced the wing by now? Which way did you go? If you repaired it, how did that go and have you had any flights on your plane?

The Traveling Tech Guy I haven’t yet I run a Bush Hogging & Lawn Service it keeps me pretty busy so it hasn’t given me a chance to do the repair. But I have already started where I cut small box holes underneath the wings to where I can get clamps in there put a thicker piece of wood and just appoxy the crap out of it that should take care of it

Do you have a sock on your iron?
@TheTravelingTechGuy19 күн бұрын
Yes. If I don't have the one hobby shops sell readily available, I use a baby sock. You get more for a cheaper price.

Alternatively, use cotton baby socks on heat iron
