Repair/Review- DOA Bluetti PS70 Solar Generator 720Wh battery 500W AC output - DECENT FOR THE MONEY

Excellent information! My initial symptom was not exactly the same, but similar. My screen would come on, but no charging taking place (according to the screen), and no response from any buttons except power on/off. Pressing the ribbon cable seemed to help for minute or two, but then it went back to the same issues. I disconnected/reconnected all cables it was possible to do so. Then I noticed a small 5 pin connector with nothing plugged into it, below the main power connector on the right side (looking at the front of the unit), below the motherboard level. I pulled on all of the wires, and found a red black pair that wasn't plugged into anything off to the left of that connecter a bit. Plugged it in and all appears to be working now. Apparently when the mother board broke loose it tugged on that wire enough to disconnect it. I also found that the batteries were fully charged, despite what the screen said prior to plugging that cable in. Thanks for the impetus to dig into the box and look around!

Mine was broken too. After fixing cables it working mostly fine. When fully charged fans stays allways on and charging number indicator showing bizzare numbers

Do you think you could tap into that XT90 with another 36V nominal battery to extend the capacity without dealing with conversion losses. Scooter batteries are 36V nominal so you could turn this into a nearly 3kwh capacity power station for a few hundred dollars using the cheap scooter batteries on Battery clearing House. I think they are $125 for 10 packs, 10S2P with EVE 27V cells. 188wh per pack I think so just under 2kwh for $200 shipped at most. Might have to spend a little more money on the packs if you want a BMS controlling all of them at once or do packs of 5. Technically there should be nothing preventing this so long as you do not connect the packs at different SOC’s. There might be some issues with the display reading incorrectly or something else I’m not thinking of but I’ve never been satisfied with the use of the DC input port on these since it’s often less than half the rates output of the AC side. This is a good test subject because 1. It’s 36V which doesn’t seem to be common so no mods on that end. 2. The inverter seems to be quite robust for the price 3. If you use an XT90 extension cable that has parallel inputs you could put this thing back together and possibly return it if you run into an obstacle

I have the same problem after you fixed it. The number on the W won't go away when AC is turned on. Is this an issue I should be worried about? Can it be fixed? Does it mean it's probably won't charge correctly?

It does seem a bit too big for a 720Wh power station. Other powet stations with the same capacity are smaller and lighter.

How yoy take it apart ?

There are 4 Allen head screws on each side for the panels and then 6 Phillips head screws hold the top and bottom shells together. Thanks for watching!

Seems like shipping damage, shouldn't you ask for a warranty replacement? Feels like it might come off again, then if it actually shorts something, then you can't get warranty then.

Yes, it should be warrantied. However, I don’t have much confidence in Bluetti actually standing behind their products after the experience I’ve had as well as what others have shared. There was risk of voiding the warranty, but the product works for now. It won’t be abused and thrown around, so I think it will last for a long time. Time will tell!!

@@diyrenewableenergyelectron4996 I've been trying to get mine warrantied for a month or more, with little to no success. I left emails and voicemails with Bluetti support, with no response. I finally went through their sales side, and got a response from support asking for a description and video of the issue. I sent it in, and have gotten no response since. So I wouldn't count on warranty coverage!

Asking for a video seems pretty common also. They asked us to do the same.
