You deserve more subscribers, I searched all over the internet and found nothing for my omnibus f4 pro v3 controller, you know what? when I touch test prob on Vin of the voltage regulator it booted, which is kinda strange considering how it can turn on by just touching the single multimeter lead on Vin, then it slowly fades and processor gets hot so I removed USB cable quicker. After searching for hours I stumbled upon your video and the way you traced the issue is remarkable. Thank you so much for the video Sir, subscribed to you and seriously, such stuff isn't shown by the experts. if it's possible to shed some light on my issue would be very helpful. Guys sub to this lovely person. He deserves more subscribers.

Was the other probe on gnd when you touched Vin and it booted?

@@e2ekielus nowhere. Just one prob while multimeter set to voltage reading. Now it's very faint leds of I try again. So I quickly disconnect as mcu herts up. 3.3 and ground is shorted and I found couple of capacitor showing short.

Board was working fine. Yesterday I plug in battery and only heard escs beep. Does boards fail like this?

@@xpertcrush i wouldnt use test probes with usb powered up. pins are so close on these boards that you could short more components by cross contact. however considering the situation that it is receiving usb power when this happens it sounds like heat from the short has made the Vin pin desolder enough to have a bad connection and when you are making contact with the probe it is making better contact and trying to boot. but the short still exsist and is caausing the mcu to fault.

What is the cause of 3.3v issue? Short?

When testing regulator output voltage should I use a ground pad on the board or the battery negative pad? I have a betafpv 12a aio that I get correct voltage reading on both the main linear regulator that feeds the ESCs and the 5v regulator when placing my negative lead of my probe on the battery negative. But if I place the negative lead on a ground pad I get 1.4 volts on the 5v output and input with the F411 already out. haven't found a dead cap yet, I just started fixing this stuff about 2 months ago and have been able to revive a ton of gear and is so satisfying but I always go back to this board determined to figure it out someday.

Is the pin out from the regulator is common for most of the 5pin regulator or I should look for the datasheet for each difrent one?

Some pinouts are slightly different on regulators that might look similar however for this FC the pin outs are all the same.

Thanks for making this video. It is really going to be a big help in trying to track down my problem. Where are you getting the electrical components? I can't find the 3.3v regulator A1117B 3.3 HJ. I ordered an AMB1117 regulator thinking it might work, but it's too large. I trimmed the legs down and made it work anyway, but the pads under the regulator are all shorted. Well 3 of the 4 pads are grounded, so where can I buy the tiny caps? Thanks.

@@shaundsouza It was a Mamba F405 20x20. It was a MK2. My 3.3v regulator was getting very hot as soon as I put power to the flight controller but the problem was not the 3.3v regulator. It was the F405 chip that was shorted out. I bought a few F405 chips and replaced the one on my flight controller and the flight controller works fine again. I'm still flying it today.

@@CarbonGlassMan I have the same flight controller, the 5v and 9v led's are on but not the 3.3v power rail led, I hope it's just the 3.3v regulator that's burnt out.

My flight controller says config file appears to be corrupted ASCII what does that mean and how do I fix it I was trying to flash it in betaflight

I don't have the skill or the equipment to do that type of micro-soldering. What would you charge me to fix 2 Kiss V2 FC's?

Waylandir well that would just depend on the parts needed for those specific fc’s. Would need to be debugged first. Btw I didn’t have my hot air solder gun at the time I filmed this video. I actually used a temp controlled solder iron with a really small tip. Works just as good just not as easy.

Hi, did you substitute the processor or it was only the caps and voltage regulator??

Jmc, in my case it was only the cap and reg.

No. the reg shorted which caused the cap to short. Any trace after the cap was not damaged. Your case might be different
