Worked great on my GMC 2005 Yukon Denali XL, 1500 6.0. I purchased the kit in the link and it worked perfectly! I would recommend cracking the E12 bolts that keep the hydroboost together before removing it from the firewall, mine were really stuck in there and it was difficult to crack them once I had pulled the unit from the vehicle. You live, you learn. Also, I had a hard time putting the hydroboost back together. I could push both halves close together, but not quite all the way. I thought I might be caught on something, but couldn't see any problems. Eventually, I just barely started all five of the E12 bolts and then slowly tightened them in a star pattern to keep the pressure even as the two halves of the hydroboost came back together. I was hesitant to do this because I didn't want to damage anything that shouldn't be forced, but it worked like a charm, don't be afraid, just be careful. Also, there are o-rings on the two threaded hoses that you pull, they don't really fly out, but be sure to keep an eye on them when you disconnect the hoses. All in all, it took me about two hours. I could do it again in one. Hope this helps. And great video man! Thank you! You saved me a lot of money. And good luck to everyone out there! As far as automotive jobs go, it's not that bad, you can do it.

Just did this last weekend. Took me about 3 hours, the clip on the brake pedal was the hardest part because I didn't want to damage it. I ordered the whole seal kit from eBay for $35 just to get the one seal (I didn't want to order 1 seal and it not be correct so I got every seal in the hydroboost at once). Did the brake bleeding at the end and drove about 10 miles before brakes went back to normal pressure. It's been about 100 miles and I don't have a single drop of leaking fluid. I'm very happy and thanks for the video!

Hardest part is removing the mount nuts. One thing I didn't look at before ordering the kit is that I had regular hex head bolts instead of the star head bolts so I didn't need the socket but that ok, I'll add it to the rest of my tools. I have a 1999 K2500 Suburban with leaky hydroboost. I have ordered 3 piece seal kit. Most of my leak comes from where the figure 8 seal is. I've watched several videos where only seals are replaced so why don't you take it apart from under the hood instead of from inside? Seems quicker and easier if taken apart at 5 bolts under the hood. I just replace the steering box and the powersterring pump along with lines and pitman arm because of a crack in steering box and a leak from back of ps pump. And after replacing and turning wheel lock to like 4-5 times the shutting off and topping of fluid it still whines, and when I use my brakes it will lock the steering wheel in its current position. Going to try and bleed the way you described in video in the morning.
@mega-hb4re8 жыл бұрын
dirtrulz112 you have to use a hand vacuum pump at 20 psi when you first installed everything otherwise you'll break something with so much air pressure on the system. With vehicle off ignition on put the vacuum on the power steering and vehicle off the ground turn wheels left to right with out looking it , and checking the fluid level after a few tries and top it off as needed eventually you'll see air bubbles coming with the fluid . once you see fluid only then you are good to go. at that point turn engine on and let it idle for 2 minutes, then check fluid again but this time on the hit mark. you'll have a little noise for about 2 weeks but it will go away. these guys were bleeding the hydro system not what you did.

Just ordered the seal because my hydro booster was seeping power steering fluid at the same place where you split the unit in half. I assume this seal should fix my problem or do you think I may need that figure 8 looking seal also. thanks
@stlouissux91198 жыл бұрын
The figure 8 seal almost never causes the leak. If it's leaking between the master cylinder and the hydroboost it's the seal from the video. The only time it would be the figure 8 is if it is leaking all the way back against the firewall as the figure 8 seal is what seals the two halves of the hydroboost. Again, very rare that it's that one.
@josephfordham64328 жыл бұрын
Curious because i have fluid that has seeped inside of vehicle above brake pedal. Noticed seepage also at the half where you separate booster in your video. I have an issue that you may be able to shed some light on.... I bought a used '06 yukon denali XL with GM SPO codes JF4, JH2 and JL4. Since the day I purchased it, the brake pedal has had an instant single kick-back if I hit the brakes fast and hard -(like someone pulls out in front of you type braking). I have replaced and bled all four calipers, replaced and bled the master cylinder, removed the fuse for the ABS system-then replaced it after testing....still single-kicks the same each time the brakes are depressed in this way. (I live in Mid-Michigan and definitely know when the ABS is activating.) It does not kick back during normal braking. There are currently no brake related codes to read. (Current codes are related to ride control, tire monitor and air bag.) Any thoughts? Questions?

Did you ever find the fix for the brake pedal kick back issue? I have the exact same symptom. When you buy the hydroboost you still have to use the rod with the little disc on it, the spring and the round spider like thing with the hole in the middle that keeps the rod centered, from your original booster. The rod pushes out from the end of the hydroboost into the brake booster when you push the brake. That will settle your sinking petal.

Will this seal work on any GM truck with Hydroboost?
Okay so I took my hydroboost apart and replaced the seals, but when assembling the hydroboost back together it was giving me problems and wouldn’t come all the way together! I tried At it for minutes on end and it would still have an inch or so gap in between both parts of the hydroboost. So I went ahead and made sure everything was where it needed to be, and then I put the bolts in (hand tightened) and drilled them in a star pattern! That was the only way I could get my hydroboost to come together. I finished assembling it and reinstalled and now two days later I’m having this hissing noise coming from under the dash when I turn my steering wheel left or right. Does anyone have any tips they can share on what the problem is or if I shouldn’t have put the hydroboost together that way. It’d be a lot of help! Thanks

i have bubbles in my power steering pump fill hole. That mean anything?
@stlouissux91197 жыл бұрын
That sounds fairly normal, you will have some bubbles from the return of the fluid. You may try bleeding it as outlined in this video.

+Ashlee Stone +George Smith IV Did you properly bleed the system as outlined in the video?
@gavinwallace62508 жыл бұрын
I had the same issue. Attempted to bleed the system as described, but the pedal still goes to the floor. Did anyone get this issue resolved?
@stlouissux91198 жыл бұрын
Are you ensure all of the seals were installed the correct direction? They can only be installed one way. If it didn't do it before you took it apart (was just leaking) you must have messed up a seal.
@gavinwallace62508 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. I did install the seal correctly, but damaged it upon re-assembly of the Hydroboost halves. It wasn't leaking after reinstalling it, but I believe the problem of the pedal going straight to the floor was the linkage to the spool valve was not connected properly. Since it doesn't just fall into place you have to make certain that it is held in place as the halves go back together. Glad I bought two seals before I started the project. 2nd try was successful and has been working fine for over a week now. No leaks.

is for my 2003 chevy silverado 2500 hd 6.0 engine

Why is it that on my 2003 6.0 chevy truck, the brakes start to lock up after about 10 minutes of driving? I have replaced the master cylinder and it still does it, but only after about the 10 minute driving time. All 4 discs at super hot and they will only let go if I open the bleeder ports to relieve pressure, then the process will repeat.
@stlouissux91197 жыл бұрын
You might try checking your ABS module.
@excelnprevail7 жыл бұрын
MGTOW SWORD maybe the rod that pushes into the master cylinder from brake boost has a negative clearance giving it a push at all times... might need to be adjusted
Hey where did you get it from? I don't see the answer
@austinschevelle19808 жыл бұрын
Great video. Thanks a lot for posting it. I was doing my 99 Silverado and unfortunately I had to replace the star washer cause it broke when I tried to pull it out. I got the whole kit here: www.ebay.com/itm/GM-2771004-Hydro-Boost-Seal-Repair-Kit-Exact-Duplicate-Complete-Seal-Kit-/200949312875?vxp=mtr&hash=item2ec9832d6b Also I found it really helpful to take photos as I was taking it apart so I could match up the seals and the orientation that I took them out of as without the pictures I would have been lost on how to put them back in. I would have had to buy 2 kits if I hadn't purchased the complete kit with the star washer. Autozone didn't carry it and the dealer laughed when I called them to see if they had it in stock. I also replaced the yellow check valve even though I couldn't tell if it was faulty or not but it came in the kit so I replaced it

@stlouissux91197 жыл бұрын
Not quite understanding the question. Did you replace the entire hydroboost, or just the seal? If you had the hydroboost apart take special note of 4:46 as it's more than likely the issue.

I just installed the hydro booster on my truck today but I still don't have breaks when I press on the peddle it wont come back up any help would be appreciated thanks
@stlouissux91198 жыл бұрын
Were the brakes working properly before? Sounds like you either have the linkages hooked up wrong, or have air in your braking system (possibly a bad master cylinder but would need more information).
@bwells8898 жыл бұрын
I found out the problem when I ordered the new booster it didn't come with the spring and rod so I had to get the spring and rod from my old one and put it in the new one so I have brakes again thanks anyways for trying to help
