Repairing a Logitech C-920 webcam

The broken USB cale is one of the most common problems on the Logitech Webcams, especially the C-920.
Two of my cameras has a broken cable already, in this video I'll disassembly and fix the cable internally.
This video was recorded a while ago, but due to moving I completely forgot about !

Good luck getting those first 4 screws out. It's 47 times harder than anyone ever shows. You'll need the world's smallest phillips head with a big giant handle.

I fixed mine by replacing the USB end of the camera. It's much easier.

@@ramoaltab7841 I resliced the wires. That did not last long, after a short while, the images started to distort. I ended up just getting a better webcam, the price has come down drastically.

Valeu! With my c920 it was enough to firmly push the cable connector down on the board

As usual with Logitech this cable design is so trash! Their junk literally designed to last up to the week before warranty expires. This cable design will be ok if you have ZERO strain on it. Otherwise it will fail if you move camera often.

What are the exact symptoms of cable breakage? Is the camera still recognized by the PC somehow? I bought a used C920 and it is not recognized at all, nothing happens when I plug it in. Do you think it is also due to the cable? Thanks a lot!

mine started with losing connection, them it stops been recognized at all, then if I hold the cable against the camera, close to the camera case, It sometimes beeps.

You did not try to connect it to your computer? How do we know that it has been fixed?

is it possible to replace the cable on my c920 with the cable from a broken c270 HD are the cables exactly the same?

i dont have a iron thing to solder my wires, is there anywhere you suggest to send my webcam for them to fix my wire? thanks.

and my hands are shaky too so im scared about doing this, the replacement wire i can get as cheap as £3-£8, which is great. But im scared if i go to a shop they will charge me tripple

@@Laugade for sure if you bring to a shop, the price will be almost the price of a new camera, as a Tech, I could say that, it will be a minimum 30 minutes job, if the person knows what they are doing, and usually repair places charges minimum 1 hour labor, they have expenses, taxes, rent, and several other overhead to be covered !

Most common problem is the cable and it is that hard to get to it. Don't buy this product. You have the right to repair this with less efford.

Sorry but I can't do any repairs for now, and the price I charge is not worth for small repairs like that ! try to find some local repair shop !

@@AngeloCoelho biggest problem I'm having is removing the insulation of the wires so I can solder them. I keep cutting them instead. Already tried different pliers.

Have same issues, my cable broke near the usb connection I put another usb cable, Soldered it all but still it says problem recognizing the camera. Also the connection where to put the usb on motherboard has disconnected. Not sure if the connector needs to be soldered to the motherboard?
