Do you think that it might of been better to replace the whole inner fender1? And if not how long will a repair like that hold up?

Yes, it would probably be better to replace it but this will last quite long - really probably just as long as a new one because it's essentially the same thing (new sheet metal) only a little uglier :)

Isn't it necessary to fully seam weld the inner arch?

You can for sure but this will do just fine for a lot of years - especially if you under coat both sides :)

Gotta really applaud someone who can successfully do this repair using simply sheet metal. I always just buy the inner fender...lol...as tack welding a new inner fender...doesn't require a whole lot of skill...in comparison.

Did you use the ArcCaptain welder on this project? If so, how is that welder working for you after three months or so? I am interested in an inexpensive welder.

Yes. The welder is great - use it quite often. My Miller's gas valve went out on me and I was going to fix it but this works just as good as the Miller. Works exactly the same - feels the same too :) That being said - the Miller may last longer because of the availability of replacement parts but heck - I couldn't be happier - super easy to use - big easy to read interface - a works like it should :)

Yes - it's pretty much the same only you might want to really clean up the welds and surrounding area even sand blast, then lay a nice bead of auto body seam sealer to prevent leaks or a wet floor :)

@@LakesideAutobody I have my winter use vehicles treated with Fluid Film annually. And also, flush underside with fresh water after salt exposure. Commercial car washes recycle their water, so during winter washes, the dissolved salt is concentrated. When you have the undercarriage rinse at these car washes, you are actually having a salt spray application. You have a great channel!!! The metal keeps getting thinner with these new cars!

Yes - no problems at all. Just grind or sand it nice and clean, apply filler, sand smooth, prime, paint :)

I usually use a Miller Millermatic 90 110v but the gas valve went. This is what I use now while I wait for parts - it works just as well - I leave it permanently set up for MIG - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIvMnHybfZKGjbM
