I do appreciate this, I know this video is old but I’m having this issue with my slk 350. The dealer wants $700 for new box, I politely said thanks but no thanks. I’m going to try your method. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I wouldn't pay $700... Let me know how it comes out. Good luck 👍

I just got an '11 E63 with the same issue. I tried gluing it with Gorilla glue but it didn't hold. I was thinking of using contact cement next along with spray adhesive. I also believe it may have been too hot inside the cabin for the glue to cure effectively. Its been 90 degrees constantly here recently.

Yeah, I think that is causing mine to also come apart. The heat has been in the 100s inside the car. I will probably have to just replace the door or the whole glove box if I can't find the door.

@@DriveTalkCars it's rather annoying. A replacement glovebox door is 600. A used one is 120 on ebay but who is to say they don't have the same problem. Its funny in the paperwork with the car the glovebox had already been replaced once.

I also have a Mercedes SLC AMG that has the same issue. I am about to clamp and glue. I am planning on using Gorilla glue but am concerned that some of you did not have good luck with it. Did you use the Gorilla Glue Epoxy? I have used that to repair other items, some that had to carry weight and it has always worked for me. Anyway, I will let you know.

How has it held up? My whole glove box face is flapping down. It's only held around the handle. It's a real clean smooth surface underneath except at the top where the inner material is. I just want do it right the first time
@DriveTalkCars3 жыл бұрын
It is holding up great! The spray adhesive really helped keep the two pieces together. The first time I did it I just glued the top seam. It didn’t work due to there being too much tension to hold. Good luck with your glove box! 👍🏽

Cement will not hold I do uphoulstry

You are correct…it never held.

@@DriveTalkCars Thanks for the update re: it not holding. Did you end up attempting another self repair, or just living with it as is, or.....?

My slc glove compartment just did this … why is this a Mercedes issue ?
@DriveTalkCars2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it sucks! I’ll probably just get a used glove compartment door or maybe the whole thing off eBay
@snowman78252 жыл бұрын
that definitively should be under guarantee

Mine didn’t fall j my lock is broken so I can’t open the glove box

Oh that sucks! A believe a "new" box off ebay is around $120-150.
