Awesome! I'm glad you're enjoying the videos, thanks for watching. Good luck on your build when you can get at it. These builds can rack up costs mighty quickly for sure

My new-to-me 1981 CJ7 has an aftermarket fiberglass body. Watching you fight the rust, that fiberglass keeps looking better. You have me looking at the body mounts though.

Oh yeah! Those fiberglass tubs are NICE for that reason.... no worrying about rust ever haha :) Thanks for watching!

Awesome stuff. I am restoring an 83 CJ5 with exactly the same motor and trans. I think mine is in a little better condition. You have motivated me to do more! Where did you get the weld in metal body mounts? I need a few myself. Thanks again for your awesome inspiring videos!

@@dmkorn02 Thanks for watching Dan! I'm glad you're enjoying the videos! It really has been rewarding to repair/build the Jeep... hopefully you feel the same working on yours :) I ordered the mounts from Quadratec "0479-315 Outboard Floor Support"

Great Video! So excited to see the progress of you’re CJ. You have the Renegade Trim so the rear end is supposed to be flush with no tailgate to mount a rear tire carrier, hope that helps!

PB blaster works amazing if you give it a few days and soak up the bolts. Many snapped but i was able to back out rusty bolts from a 1947 willys military utility trailer much to my amazement.

Great advice! Thanks! I'm impressed it worked on your 73 old bolts haha

Do you think an oversized thicker gauged piece of steel welded to the body, at each body mount location, would be a good idea? Stop future stress and rust worries?
@NickDowner2 жыл бұрын
Probably not a bad idea! It would definitely reenforce things a lot too

Great video! May I ask, where did you get the underbody structural pieces you welded in? I am going to be pulling off my 1975 CJ5 body over the holidays and fear those may be components I will be needing.
@NickDowner2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Michael! I found them on the quadratec website.... part number 22507.0118. It's also called an "Outboard Floor Support"

Hey I love your videos. I just got a 1974 jeep cj5 to restore. What are the best places to get parts? I have had trouble finding some items.

Hey John! Congrats on the cj5! I usually get stuff from Amazon, quadratech, and Morris 4x4. What stuff are you looking for?

@@NickDowner I think he was asking you if it was flux core. But I can see a gas cylinder in many of the shot, so it looks like you are using gas for shielding the weld pool.

@@NickDowner Nope. You could get a tailgate all the way up until the last year 1983 in a cj5. They were more rare after 76 but you could for sure get tailgates in a cj5 if you ordered it that way or the dealer ordered it that way.
