Always Board Never Boring continues restoring an old 1990s copy of HeroQuest from MB Games. In this video he takes a look at the tomb, a fun piece of dungeon furniture that someone appears to have taken a saw to at some point. He repairs the card, repaints the plastic parts, and even does a little bit of sculpting.

I've not made much of a dent on the painting side of things yet. Hopefully I can make up some ground soon. Good luck with the project!

Your repair looks pretty good, i fixed 6 skull dice from last video, i ended up using a 003 Micron artist pen to redraw all the lines was 4.95 at hobby shop, i also tested a few things for the white areas, best i got was using FW or equivalent white ink not watered down, and i have to say only the outer areas, dont go anywhere near the black icon area unless you have a steady hand, no shakers here for this area, so corners edges only as the ink will seep into the cracks of the wood, let dry and if yah got white ink in the black areas, redraw with Micron pen. Suggestion for the sword and armor, cheap DecoArt Copper for the sword and Black Pearl for the armor, Gold for the sword guard. Im finding slightly thinned DecoArt acrylic metallics are really nice for minis, and the bottles are cheap 3.95 Canadian for a 59 ml bottle. Copper looks fantastic on the Treasure Chest handles and rivets as well.

Thanks for watching. I’m doing a couple of videos a week on the project but still trying to keep up with other types of content for those people who aren’t interested in HeroQuest.

I am going to miss the nice red accents. Looks a bit like those fingernail polish color chips that are on racks of that stuff in stores.

My wife does nail and makeup stuff online, and it did look a bit like that. Not really sure what they were going for with that colour scheme. I guess, "I don't know what they were going for" can describe a lot of HeroQuest paint jobs.

My one has been painted bright blue and yellow with thick enamel paint. I am not sure how to remove it without doing damage to the plastic.

I’ve done a recent video on stripping miniatures using Dettol (the method I always use). It is available here in my HeroQuest playlist. Alternatively there are products available such as Biostrip or the paint stripper from Green Stuff World.

@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring Thanks, I think Dettol isn't strong enough for enamel, I will look into getting some paint stripper.

Dettol should have a good go at enamel, you just need to leave it to soak for much longer.
@johnmiddleton4291

Dettol works well with old enamels. I've done loads of old 25mm minis from the 80s that were caked with Testors enamel. However, DO NOT run the mini under water while stripping or you will create a massive sludgy mess. Soak the mini for a day or so, fully submerged in dettol in a jar or a plastic kitchen container with a lid. Then remove it and wipe away the paint clumps with a paper towel. If some remains, re-submerge for another few hours. Scrub the mini with a stiff toothbrush, or even better and M-16 or gun cleaning brush, using the dettol solution itself to scrub with. No water. Once all the paint is gone, you can submerge the mini in hot water with dish soap to finish the clean up. Again do not put it in water when there is still enamel paint residue on it. Also....wear gloves as the enamel paint will definitely cause skin irritation in combination with the dettol.
