And can i get away with sanding the edges but not usin filler, on a matte surface? Is ready mixed filler the best way to go? Ive only got the branded filler in powder. Thankyou very much, it all depends how far you want to go, if you can live with the little step then dont fill, if you want to lose the step then fill, use the filler that is easy to sand.

PeelStop is brilliant .... so many use PVA cus it's cheap.. but they don't know the problems you get with PVA and bare plaster + paint!. Nice to see it done right Steven. Have you used Zinsser Permawhite Mould Resisting paint yet for bathrooms?? awesome paint

Thanks Phil for your professional feedback, to be honest i have only started with the zinsser products a couple of years ago. So far i have used the peel stop and bin and the 123, i will get round to using more. None of the edges lifted at all when i did this cieling using the peel stop, before the peel stop you can guarante i would of been fighting with some of the edges. Never have used pva for it though. Maybe a collaboration is on the cards in the future.

@@Inexteriors Zinsser Gardz is a life saver.. ideal on problem surfaces.. like efflorescence/distemper etc. So many good products out there now, it's just a case of finding a good one you're happy with.. or you're forever swapping and changing. Bedec and Isomat do some good paints. (water based). Happy to help if I can ;)

Great video thanks Steven, I have peeling paint on bathroom ceiling, it looks like no undercoat was used. I have a bit of black stain which looks like from condensation, any tips on how to paint over it? I bought Zinsser Cover stain for another room could I use it on the ceiling here do you think? Thankyou very much. Paint sits on the film of pva, if the pva peels so will the paint pva is not goo to seal plaster before painting,. you can use the cover stain for the black stain, use the peelstop like i did in the video.

If you are painting new room thats been plasterd, then yes a mist coat should be done. if you are doing a peeling patch like this, the peelstop will act as a mist coat and seal the plaster, i am sure the ready mixed easi fill will be fine as long as it is for fine filling. I have never used ready mixed easifill, let me know how you find it.

over the original paint plaster edge, you will be 2nd filling over what you have filled. you can do it when first fill has dried, remember to fill clean then there is less to sand.

its to take the step away from the peeling paint edge to the plaster, so it fills the edge out and looks smooth. Yes you could leave out if you are not concerned about the step. Could you explain what spackle is and what it does, as we dont use it here in the uk or we call it something different. Many thanks.

I hired a so called professional painter to paint my newly remodeled bathroom. He didn’t use primer on the new sheet rock so it started peeling a few months later. It just goes to show that if you want something done right you have to do it yourself.

yes you can. i used the brush for the peelstop, and to put a coat on the effected erea, i then used a roller to paint the full ceiling.
