2k paint is not always the best choice even if it was painted like so from factory, from my experience it will not last as long as we wish, sometimes at the end I give one more layer of clearcoat mixed with a little bit of paint and that way it stays much better and it will not shade under the sun. You shall try that. But my opinion is to use a base paint and cover it with 2 full layers of clear, that way you'll have maximum quality. Good luck

Great work as always been looking forward to seeing the bodywork done on this,my red sri turbo also needs a full respray at some point. Must admit when mine gets done I was thinking of having a good quality clear coat on top to stop the car gong pink despite regular polishing and waxing😪 Not sure the later power red vxr's are as bad. Top work really will pay off once its finished😀👍🙌🙏

Hi mate. I am a DIY restorer and painter, and have replaced a pair of arches on my Golf Gti. My son has a flame red Astra SRi turbo which had rust on the rear arches. The very reason I started restoring and painting myself was due to the ridiculous quotes I got from bodyshops to repair that car. It was about 7 years ago now, and quotes from reputable shops were between £300 and £400 just for the painting! Back street shops were quoting £150 to £200, again, just for the painting. Depending on what colour your car is, you could get into £1000 very easily I'm afraid.

I just found this video, now I'm going to see if you've finished 😄 how can you work on a car outside, there's no roof, it's not protected from rain and dust and you still lack lights. I had such an astra, only a station wagon. I hope you didn't paint it in organic Opel red, because that color is a disaster, it quickly matts and turns pink. It's horrible, otherwise I'm looking for such an astra with 3 doors👏💪👍🇭🇷🙋‍♂️
