old vid but just what i was looking for, couldn't decide weather to use body filler, weld it up or epoxy for 4 small holes in my camp trailer. The tape under the hole and epoxy worked great after rust treating it.

Great work fellas. 'It actually gave me confidence to go and have a go' at my old rusted boat trailer 😅. So I've finally started yesterday in between work. Thanks for putting the vid up. Although, I couldn't get ferronite and the sales people suggested rust converter called Rust Guard so I'm using that first, then etch primer, and then some silver hammer paint. As well as alot of elbow grease 😉 Taking awhile to do because of access with the boat still on,but will let you know how it turns out. Thanks again.

Thanks for your positive feedback Gyula, iit inspires me to get the camera out and do more. We always have fresh Feronite in stock and we can post it anywhere in Australia or the world for that matter. As it is water based and no Dangerous goods. Its only drawback is that you need to mix it very well as all of the goodies for sealing & Priming settle out. Plus after its BEST Before Date throw it in the bin. Therefore you need to check that is still in date when purchasing it. Hopefully with all of your effort the rust will not come back. Touch base on Bote.Cote@optusnet.com.au and we will look after you.

Hi mate, Thanks for the video just a quick question can I spray Feronite under the car? I’m not sure could damage the electronic or plastic materials? Thanks

Could you tell me exactly what epoxy product you used to fill the holes with please?
@TheEpoxyGuruTipsTricks3 жыл бұрын
I used EPOX-E-Glue made in Queensland Australia. It is brilliant as it will not sag on a vertical surface and has ultimate strength. This Technique should only be used on non critical areas. Nothing beats welding or brazing in a new section. Doubler plates are not recommended as moisture can get in between the plates and create havoc.

I’ve got a partially rusted galvanized metal Bluescope ceiling of my garage that was used for formwork for the concrete above. Due to lack of waterproofing, it’s rusted badly in a few spots. We’ve waterproofed and now need to address the ceiling. Your video has helped me a lot, I plan to scrape off excess, fill a few gaps where it rusted through with no more gaps then use Feronite RMP, then use Killrust paint as a finish. Any suggestions?
@TheEpoxyGuruTipsTricks6 жыл бұрын
Clean off the loose rust with a wire brush and hot soapy water to remove loose rust and contamination. If you have rust between the concrete and steel see if you can spray the Feronite into the area. Having the surface damp will slow own it curing and allow it more time to draw into the gap. Where are you located? It ships by courier or POST. Dave - 0412 366 998

Thanks for this video! How much feronite did you end up using for that job?
@TheEpoxyGuruTipsTricks6 жыл бұрын
Start out with 250ml How big is the area you need to sort out. Two coats will do about 4 to 5 m2 depending on how bad the rust is. Dave

Hows is this good workmen ship. ..bodged ...
@TheEpoxyGuruTipsTricks6 жыл бұрын
I never said it was good workmanship. It was done to bring a tired old trailer back to life and solve the corrosion problem. The new owner is more than happy as he scored a trailer which met his requirements at a very reasonable price and it is still going strong. Do not under estimate the EPOX-E-Glue used where the frame had corroded through in a couple of non structural places as it provided considerable strength to those otherwise buggered areas. Feronite Rusty Metal Primer is not supposed to make sometime old new again. It is to solve corrosion issues and extend the life of equipment such as this trailer which would have required major surgery to bring its function back to new. Check out other video',s

@@darrennovak6442 Thanks Darren, Feronite Rusty Metal Primer is a brilliant product which is brilliant at halting rust and giving rusty metal many more years of life . It does need painting or it will start to fail after about 12 months from UV exposure.

The epoxy to hide rust holes in is dodgy. Really sad this was posted.
@TheEpoxyGuruTipsTricks6 жыл бұрын
Yes you are right it is dodgy. BUT, it was non structural and we did not have a welder available to carry out an ideal repair. If it was a structural area with load on it I do not recommend using the EPOX-E-Glue. Although the EPOX-E-Glue is a high strength Thixotropic Epoxy Glue with the following tested properties; - Tensile Strength - 48MPa - Tensile Elongation - 8% - Flexural Strength - 76MPa Compressive Strength - 90MPa As you can see it has very good mechanical properties for an Epoxy Glue.

Good Aye Alex, Thanks for your feedback. Concur with the wind causing background noise. Charlotte did the best she could to remove the background noise. She put in some comments were the critical info was too faded. We did this video a couple of years ago and we have learned a lot since then. All our video's are produced by amateurs using a Nikon S9000 CoolPix Camera and therefore limited in what we can achieve. We do these video's to educate people and most are "done on the spur of the moment". I hope from the actions you can appreciate what we are trying to achieve. We have a good video on sorting out rust on a roof and the technique is the same. If you want further advice we are happy to answer your questions. Feronite is unique as it does not rely on Phosphoric Acid to convert the rust. It uses Tannin from a tree to convert the rust, then it seals and primes the surface in one application using two coats. Then all it needs is a Topcoat to keep UV away. There is more info on our website at www.BoatCraftNSW.com.au .

Sorry. when I do video's it is in real time and showing as i am talking shows it is not a salesman's pitch. I think that is part of the character of my video's. Good nuts & Bolts info without the chirography and salesman pitch. Just good How To info. Dave bote.cote@optusnet.com.au

Hate dickheads that fill in frames! Weld a plate over the holes! Inexpensive and easy.
@TheEpoxyGuruTipsTricks6 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a plan if you've got a welder and know how to weld. The epoxy glue has a strength of approximately 50Mpa and is a better solution for the average person. Alternatively, if someone did not have said welder nor the knowledge to do so they could use your idea and utilise Epox-E-Glue to glue the backing plate on.
