Was happy to find these available. I looked for this years ago to no avail. Mine is literally 40 years old but I can't let it go because it was my first Father's Day gift. That means I had to cut the set screw system off the bottom of mine and I'm looking forward to installing the new one.

For anyone that had a grill with the old wing-screw/hex style vent attachment, I had to drill it out from the inside it was so rusted out. Start small then go bigger til you can drill out the rivet thing holding the inside washer down, then the fins will pop off and the bottom falls out. The fun you have buying used!

I have the very same Ocean Blue Master Touch and I love it. After every cook I use a plastic scraper and an old paint brush to scrape the inside of the grill and I use the paint brush to sweep the ashes out through the holes and into the ash catcher. It protects the one touch cleaning system and prevents the prongs from lifting. I like to do this anyway because I always have a clean grill when I go to use it. Love your videos.

Need to do that to my Weber now. Those vent covers are so dang easy to bend up. It's happened to me from just scaping the crud out, and the scraper getting under one of them.

Weber sells a stainless steel version of the kit. They are much stronger and don't bend as easily. My Glen Blue 26" came with SS as well as my early 2000s models One Touch Platinums. That said, I've got a few that are the cheap aluminum versions and I have to take them apart and bend them back regularly. Thanks for the tutorial, great video as always. Cheers!

I was wondering what the advantage of the stainless steel one would be. Thanks! I thought it came standard with the master touch series - it does in the uk at least.

How long did the cleaning system blades that you removed last?

A couple years. But that was my fault. I had some wood chunks slip into the bottom and tried to sweep them into the ash catcher.

I have a weird question for you regarding the P vents. My first kettle had the P vents cut incorrectly and CS had to send me two new bowls before I had one that was not defective. I gotcha new kettle for Father’s Day and the One Touch does not completely cover the P-vents in the fully closed position. CS is sending me a new One Touch but my question is how far do your wings cover the vents in the fully closed position? I’m hoping I don’t have yet another defective bowl! 🙏🏻
@CookingWithRy2 жыл бұрын
That's really strange. Mine cover them fully when closed.

@@CookingWithRy After the trouble I had with three defective bowls for my first kettle, we just returned this one to Lowe’s. There is a noticeable difference between the two kettles as far as quality is concerned. Wondering if it has to do with Weber going public.

I've found that you can just use a flathead to gently pry the lever up and you can turn the lever so that the notch moves freely and you can reuse the cleaning system. Although if these were stocked locally at a reasonable price I probably would have just bought a new one. lol

Not on this. It needs to go past the point of flex to regain its shape. If you push down it just springs back up.
