Thanks for the good video Tom. One more suggestion is to change the oil after you replace or repair the carburetor. You might have gas in the oil if the needle and seat were dirty an the float is stuck.

Suppose it wouldn't hurt. Thanks for the input.

My 4000 would only run with the choke on. I took the bowl off, turned the generator upside down, sprayed some carb cleaner with compressed air up it, and it works perfect now.

Nice! Sometimes it works. Might have to try that on my pressure washer. It’s acting up and only wanting to run on choke right now .

The emulsion tube in the center of the carb is clogged. Usually they can be removed, however on my Powerhorse 20 ton log splitter-for the life of me I could not remove the emulsion tube. So I replaced it with a carb from ebay. Search carefully for a replacement as there are many carbs, and they differ slightly. It was $15.00 and came with lot's of goodies. The original carb was a Huayi LO2 , and I am still trying to find anotherfor a spare.

Just about every carb I’ve owned I’ve tried to take apart and clean before I go and replace it. I never can seem find anything blatantly wrong with them, but somehow replacing seems to usually fix them 🤷🏼♂️

Before you replaced the carb were you able to spray carb cleaner in it and get it to run for a few seconds then it shut off ? Thats the stage I am at now after tearing it all apart cleaning it still have that issue. Debating on replacing the carb and was curious . Thanks

Kevin Unruh I was able to make it start and stay running, but only on choke.

Midwest Tilapia Farms Ha, thanks. So much for "short" video huh? I mostly wanted to share this to show others how simple it is to install a plug-n-play sort of fix like this. Sure, back in the day a carburetor had to be fully disassembled and cleaned and reassembled. Now that's not worth the time. Just chunk it and get a new one!

looked like the first gasket before the bracket was upside down in the video

What's that silver plate on the left of carburetor? I tried various and choke cleaner still only starts up then dies out right away. Could it be a spark plug problem also?
@TomBrueggen4 жыл бұрын
I don’t know the proper name for the different plates and seals. How long does it run? Maybe your float is hanging up and it’s just using up fuel in the bowl? Make sure your float can move easy and make sure your incoming fuel line is clear and not kinked.

@@TomBrueggen ok I'll try that thanks. I bought generator for $80 guy said he didnt want to go through the hassle of fixing it. I ordered a carburetor last night on amazon. Takes 2 weeks to come in.

Back when I made this video I couldn't get one from them. At least I think when I tried to call I stuck in the endless loop of no one answering the phone or something like that. Happy to hear you found one, I hope it works for you!

Is this the same for the 9000???
@TomBrueggen7 жыл бұрын
Juan Samaniego probably pretty close. I don't know off hand but tools like this are all so similar, just bigger or smaller. Just make sure you get the right carburetor for your 9000. It's probably a bigger engine I assume .

Tom Brueggen thanks for the quick reply. I'm just assuming I'll need one since it has not been ran for well over a year.
@TomBrueggen7 жыл бұрын
Juan Samaniego well if you didn't before, drain out any gas still in it, tank and carb, and put in, at a minimum, silver grade has. I never run base regular in any small engine. You may get lucky and it starts and then that better gas will clean up any little residue. Maybe... :)
