I have 2015 tahoe that had the leak problem though it was very minor leak that probably leaked one glass of coolant a year. I have taken it to the dealer because it happened that my temperature Guage was at the Maximum & the dealer workshop said it's from that leak. They replaced the reservoir & the 2 samll hoses. It costed me 1050 dollars 😢

Thanks! That helped

Just fixed the same issue on my GMC sierra 1500 with the same engine and part. I believe the leak to be coming from the resevoir itself but not from a crack or lose hose. I believe since my truck is a 2015 that over time the seal on the resevoir deteriorated over time and when the engine is on and the tank is pressurized the faulty seal allows the pressure to push the coolant out through the seal where it will leak and flow out rapidly due to the pressure of the system. I believe the tank will need to be replaced every 8-9 yrs if you own it over a long period of time😊

In the end, I think my tank was fine, it was the factory clamp that wasn’t giving a proper seal. I switched to a worm style clamp and resolved the issue.

I’ve got the same thing going on with my 2014 Silverado. I can see the liquid everywhere. But this video helped me a little more. Was your tank cracked or busted anywhere? I do think one thing is confusing me, I filled it up last night and never cut the truck on and this morning the tank was empty and I did have liquid in my driveway, but I’m wondering if it’s the tank or that bottom clamp. I put a towel under the clamp/hose this morning after filling it back up and the towel was dry. But the liquid still came out. Wondering if it’s the tank on the bottom broken. Anyways, great video and thanks for sharing! Stay safe and have a great day!

@@anthonyblevins3467there is enough room on there to put a second clamp on it. So I left the factory clamp on it and put a worm style clamp behind it. No more leak after that.

@@marenothecarguy8361 thank you! It’s got to be the tank, it’s been sitting all day, not fired up at all and it’s still leaking. So no pressure on it. More of a gravity fed leak. I’ve got one coming from Amazon. lol. I’ll also add that clamp to it as well, but it’s just looking in the bottom of that metal pan. Next to battery.

Did you have to bleed the coolant system after replacing the reservoir. Going to replace mine when parts arrive and wondering if I’ll need too
@marenothecarguy83615 ай бұрын
I let let the engine run (idle) for a bit with the heat on high and the coolant bottle cap off to make sure and trapped air was able to escape but I never did the bleed procedure.

Did that fix the leak? I have a similar problem.
@marenothecarguy8361 Жыл бұрын
Yes it did, but I believe I didn't need to replace the coolant tank. I think it was just the clamp on the hose that needed replacing. I don't think it was tight enough around the hose to keep it from leaking. I think a simple $1 worm clamp would of resolved the leak issue.

If you’re getting a leak but no puddle is that head gasket
@marenothecarguy8361 Жыл бұрын
Somewhat true but could be misleading. Some leaks only happen when the car is driving, so you won’t find a puddle under the car. Some leaks travel along the rails and pools in crevices in the cars body, only to come out when the car is moving. There are far better ways to help determine if it’s a head gasket: over heating, oil mixed with coolant in radiator. Coolant mixed with oil in engine. When the engine is running there would be lots of bubbles coming out coolant when you take the radiator cap off or when you look in the overflow tank.

@@marenothecarguy8361 so it does have a huge puddle now. Refilled jt and went down immediately. Saw one of the belts at the bottom js wet so maybe near the water pump. Same thing happened bout a year a go
