Well done sir. Judging by your verbage and all, you don't seem to be a mechanic, so for you to make a clear and concise video "how-to" solving a common problem is awesome.

Do you know the temperature setting for the thermostat. I'm ordering one and they state different opening temperatures
@marenothecarguy83615 ай бұрын
I don’t recall, but it’s the aftermarket ones that have different temps. I would suggest getting a factory one.

My fan stays running in my 2016 suburban. I replaced the sensor and it’s still running constantly. Do you think it could be the thermostat?
@marenothecarguy8361 Жыл бұрын
So you replaced your temp sensor and your temperature gauge is working but the fan is constantly running? Is that a correct statement? If so, I would make sure my coolant is full and there is no air in the system. If all of those things are golden, next I would check the fan relay switch. Sometimes those go bad. The thermostat wouldn’t be on my radar as a culprit.
@kevinramos2962 Жыл бұрын
Change your thermostat it’s probably stuck open when its stuck open its cooling the antifreeze yet its cooling it alot were the temp sensor reading it right yet the computer thinks otherwise change you thermostat it should fix the polroblem

Oh and take off the negative terminal for like a good 5 min and u will be good
@edc120912Ай бұрын
It's early signs of a bad thermostat. Mine was doing that so I changed the Coolant temp sensor. That's didn't silve the problem. And my thermostat just went out today

Do you recommend the same kind of thermostat for the weather in Texas?
@marenothecarguy8361 Жыл бұрын
If I lived in Texas, I would use one of the thermostats that open around 160-180F.

I know this is not related to this video but can someone explain that open space in front of the fuse box on the driver side under the hood ? it looks like something supposed to go there.. I noticed it on my new truck that I just purchased ...I was just making sure nothing was missing thanks.
@marenothecarguy8361 Жыл бұрын
I believe you are referring to the space reserved for having the option to add a secondary battery. So you should see the battery tray in that spot.
@1997wayz Жыл бұрын
@@marenothecarguy8361 it looked like it may have been a battery tray I just wasn't sure thank you.

That needs a proper torque setting. Great video though.
@marenothecarguy836111 ай бұрын
I agree, proper torque is always recommended and preferred. I must admit, I have never used a torque bar/wrench on anything other than replacing a head gasket. I’ve worked on countless cars of mine over 30 years and never torqued to spec with no negative effects. Again, I agree with you but it’s just not something I do.

Did you need to burp the cooling system at all? Or just top off fluid and be done
@marenothecarguy8361 Жыл бұрын
The amount of fluid lost was so minimal that burping wasn’t necessary. I just topped it off. Although I did initially let it warm up with the cap off to be able to add additional fluid after the thermostat opened. When I replaced the lower radiator hose, I had to drain all of the fluid first. Even in the situation I didn’t need to burp the system. I’m not saying burping isn’t necessary, but I just haven’t had to do it.

I already switch out both parts and it still does the same thing. What is it?
@marenothecarguy8361 Жыл бұрын
Which thermostat did you replace it with? Some are designed to open as low as 160F and others at 180F. On the higher end, you will find some that open at 208F and 212F. I went with a 212F thermostat.

@mykes5597 Жыл бұрын
My trucks fan was doing the same thing. Replace the coolant temperature sensor. That did the trick. Easy to do there's a few vids on KZbin to walk you thru it. Biggest step not to forget is unplug the battery to reset the computer once the repair is made

Great content! I'm going to do my sons 2018 premier, same motor This will help...p.s. buy a fkin tripod, struggling with 1 arm...no bueno brother. But I don't think it's the thermostat because my son's temperature gauge in his truck doesn't register at all and he has good heat coming out of his car when it's running great Heat. So I don't think it's actually the thermostat I think it's something else any suggestions? Anything will help.
@marenothecarguy8361 Жыл бұрын
The thermostat wouldn't affect the gauge not registering any temperature. Sounds to me like it's your Coolant Temperature Sensor. It's even easier to change and cheaper. BTW, I do have tripod, but a tripod doesn't help much when you want to zoom in and out and get multiple angles. I use one when it's convenient and I hold the camera when it's not. Maybe one day I'll hire a camera person ....LOL :)
