did the old ones brake when you took it off or is it possible to put it back on? ie for painting...

None of the caps broke. I sold the used ones on eBay.

I got my old one off but broke a tiny little center pin off the new one trying to get it snapped on! I thought a little part on the mirror body broke off, but it broke off of the new one! I touched up the scratches on the old one and snapped it back on. I would ask dealer to install, saves money and stress! It's definitely not as easy as it looks, unless maybe you know how to do them.

Is it really that easy to change the mirror caps - just pull off the old cap and snap on the new one? Looks too easy.
