Replace rear shock absorber 80 series landcruiser

Run through of replacing rear shock absorbers in an 80 series landcruiser.
please note I am not a mechanic.

The bottom shock bolt snapped off on me……a real pain in the ass!!! A 2 day drill/thread chaser job. The previous mechanic put red loctite on the bolt. Not fun. Great video and thanks for posting. I got the lower shock bolt sorted eventually. The torque on that bottom shock bolt is 51ft/lbs per the FSM.

Oh no. What a pain. Red loctite has its uses. That is not one of them. I’m glad that you got it sorted.

Great vid! I will set to work right away but I don't have a dog to look after my 10 mm socket.. Don't throw away your old shockie, the hard chrome shaft makes great handles or press shafts or whatever.. PS Forgive me for screaming at you when you put the bracket upside down..

@@blackllama1 he was the lead singer off the SKYHOOKS an Aussie band years ago one off the best , he was even on TV better homes and gardens I think but he died flying his helicopter into a mountain sadly 😥 you must know off the Skyhooks , the song living in the 70s and All my friends are getting married 😉

Running foam cells how do you find them?

I have found them quite good. No complaints. The one that started leaking coped a hit from a log submerged in a bog hole, it has also done a bit of work. I would use these again
